We were linked with Laporte in April last time... last season was good but this season their defence has not been very good. Can't see any new CB coming in unless the club have given up on Mangala.

Mangala looks to be our second best centre half at the moment as well as being the youngest and the lad that's better than him can't stay fit.

It doesn't say Pep wanted to buy the entire Bilbao defense, it says he wants to buy one player. Maybe that player has been the only spark in their defense and has certain attributes that fits with what Pep might want to do.

@scoutsattending - #mcfc scout watched #FCBayern 1-0 Darmstadt on Dec 15...now said that Thiago Alcantara is a top Guardiola target...he came off bench in 2H

I reckon if he has Thiago as a target we might just assume he knows what he's getting and skip the scouting part tbf.
 
Aubameyang, Thiago and Gaya will do for me. Get rid of Willy, Demi, Bony, Nasri, Fernando and a LB. Promote Denayer and Gunn
 
Thiago and Gundogan have a history of injuries. We should be wary of all injury prone types. They never do well here.

Best we stay clear off those types.
 
Nice guessing game considering Pep is on his way *crosses fingers*

Looking at the squad we have maybe we have to look at where the gaps will be

Back up goalie to replace Caballero & challenge Joe - check

Full backs to replace Sagna (end of contract) Kolarov (unreliable) & keep on mind Zab is getting on & more prone to injury - check

Centre half in case Kompany isnt fixed - maybe? Replacement for Demichelis - check

Midfield - Fernandiho getting older
Yaya getting to the end of a great career Fernando - never good enough - Nasri - injury prone & inconsistent - check

Bony - see Fernando - check

So potentially a few gaps

Suggestions -

Time for Gunn to be number 2 or another stop gap veteran?

Laporte - seems legit maybe Sandro add to that Maffeo

Denayear for Demi - Kompany hopefully fit

Gundogan seems ideal dream signing
Pogba & maybe Isco - Can Silva drop deeper

Smaller squad some quality youth & a lot of rotation
 
Pace and good technical ability. Able to read the game and adapt as needed. Play at high tempo throughout match not just 20 minutes.

It will be fascinating to see how this all works out.
