Absolutely and could he hack a midweek away fixture against Carlisle in the League cup on a pissing down windy night in November?

Absolutely not. Let me tell you something, keep an eye on that Joe Cole kid, he'd run rings around this Lionel fella.

Graham Hunter on 5 Live is saying that he can't see Messi leaving Barcelona. So it's almost certainly on!

But one thing he did say is that Messi's father was first approached by us informally about 4 years ago to ask "What would you want?" He also said that he believes Barcelona have had a firm proposal regarding Messi from someone (he didn't say who) in the last few months. Interesting.

He was on Citywatch podcast last year saying Pep was off to Utd! Ha ha ha!

And don't forget he was the buffoon who said David Villa had signed for Madrid, a day or two before he signed for Barca

Even if he isnt happy. Why do we think he would come to us?

I also dont believe this theory that Guardiola can bring Messi to the club, for the simple fact they dont really get along and are not that close.

Messi leaving Barcelona is just tabloid gossip. He is going to finish the best years their before perhaps going back to Newells Old Boys.

Messi is the gold at the end of the rainbow.

That's the thing though, whilst its not dead by any means, Bayern, Real and Chelsea have shown that there are ways to circumnavigate tiki taka possession based football and the use of a false number 9. Sit back in a defensive formation, soak up the pressure then hit them on the break down the wings. Every style of play has its day and whilst I love tiki taka, like all styles it needs to evolve with the times.

With the formation of Messi, Aguero and Silva as a front three, who would protect the full backs? I've always thought both our left backs suffer when Nasri or especially Silva play on the left. This is brought into sharp contrast when Jimmy plays on the left and offers the overlapping full back protection.
Sorry to drag up a year old post, but did you actually just look at a front 3 of messi kun and silva and think "whos gonna cover the full backs" ;-)

Why the fuck have you exhumed this from 2000 Long time ago? Lol

In answer to your question, yes I did. Football is as much about defence as it is attack as our experience of Manuel has taught us.

Tend to agree with you. He sounds impressive until you actual analyse what he is saying. You then quickly realise he his spouting shite. A good PR man though a triumphof style over substance

Why use 5 words when he can use 50. City watch podcast interviews were really good but it was bizarre hearing Hunter say Pep would go to Utd rather than City when everyone seemed to know it was done. Summed him up really.

To be fair, he did stress that it was his opinion, and that he'd be happy to be proved wrong. @BillyShears has done a superb job on the podcasts so far.

Express quoting the sun....probably bollocks,I'll post it anyway

http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...r-Lionel-Messi-wages-Barcelona-contract-talks

Seems like he's in constant contract talks is Messi, fair play to him being the best player in the world as he can demand more money out of a paranoid Barcelona who would be scared of their golden goose looking elsewhere.

I don't think Messi will ever leave Barca, he is too important to them and encaptures the whole identity of what the club is about and how they play football. If he does play for another team I think it will be when he's past his usefulness as a player but still can pull in the shirt sales for someone else.

Be nice if he did think fuck it I want a gaff in Wythenshaw and chippy night every Thursday with Zabaleta.
