Not saying he'll leave Barça for any other club in Europe (as he really is loved here in Spain, not just in Catalonia) but that is the prefect statement (and party line) to ensure his legacy at Barça is set in stone. Now, if he leaves for England or France (only places I can see him go from a buying power perspective), he will always say he was forced to go to help the club financially and the socios will believe him. They'll worship him for both his contributions on the pitch and the P&L.Lock-worthy?
But Messi has now committed his European future to Barcelona during an interview withFrance Football, claiming he will only leave the Catalan giants to play in his homeland.
"I have always said that Barcelona is my home and I want to retire here, with regards to my career in Europe. I am never going to play for another European club, but I would like to try Argentine football. I am sure what I want and what I want is to stay at Barça," he said.
