Tempering the Guardiola Optimism

Sorry but I can't stop listening to interviews, watching training session and tactic videos

He is so damn hypnotic to watch,i'll be back to watching pre-match interviews again
It'll be very interesting to see how the rest of the league will react,my guess is they will mostly park the bus and be afraid to take us on,i can't wait to see what happens

I know kaz I'm the same haha. Watching these pre and post match interviews are amazing the way he describes his team. Just watched the post match interview after we beat them 3-2 at home last season and he says he's so proud of the players in a defeat.

I will be hanging on his every word

Well ive yet to speak to a single human (apart from city fans of course) who thinks he will be a success for us.
The whole world is waiting for him to go tits up at City.

Instead of embracing the worlds best coach's arrival in the Premier league and the possibility of the type of players he could bring into the league, hes being dismissed by 99% of everyone before hes even set foot on our beautiful shores. And its all because hes joining us. any other club and the media and the rest of the sheep on this planet would be going moist with excitement im sure of it.

Im going to bite my tongue for 3 years and then every tw@t on this earth will be getting it!! ..............

I think a slight touch of envy ..........................or apprehension might be upsetting the " rest of the world "

My concern is that we appear to be way behind where we were last year and the year before and everyone is a year older.
Pep goes for a high energy high pressing game and I am not sure our squad can do that as MP has found out (he had always based his teams on this style and it's not happened at City).
Spurs and The Foxes are way ahead of us with this style of play and have the type of player to do it. ( I am not saying that the foxes have better players btw). What will break? Peps ideals or the the current crowd favourites? Will be interesting how quickly we adapt. Will be interesting

Pep isn't a slave to one way of playing. He's the complete pragmatist.

If we can't play one way he'll coach the team to play another. That is the beauty of Pep he will coach the team to win against whoever we are playing. Of course, it doesn't always work but his track record shows a very high % of success.

The transfer forum will be fun, at the end of the season.
Suppose it will turn into a competition to find the most obscure footballer that we can buy.

We have to track a plane or two,pep first then some players, wish the summer tournaments were'nt on

I can honestly see us still being busy as ever, regardless of tournaments.

Spanish Alan Ball will have most likely have handed over his list of targets already and ground work is being put in. If we go true to form we will move early in the summer and secure them before any summer football is played. I look forward to us signing the new Buster Phillips.

I don't even know who i want in terms of new players,i'm just looking fowards to seeing the current squad improve

Everything our club has done to this point has been in preparation for Pep.

The real project starts this summer.

I think the majority of our fans will be realistic and realise Pep has a lot of rebuilding to do here and it won't all happen overnight. It will be the media that will hype him up and call him a failure if he doesn't win us the Champions League next season.

I hope we address the weaknesses in the squad most importantly for me, a left back (seems we've needed one for ages now) a couple of central midfielders and a striker, getting rid of one of the left backs (pref Kolarov - sorry ladies), Yaya, Fernando and Bony.

Evolution rather than revolution.

Before I start this post I want to clarify that I am absolutely delighted with this appointment. He is a great coach, capable of getting teams playing fantastic football.

I would just caution people to be a little bit less enthusiastic and not to expect too much too early with him. He has a job on when he gets here. There is International competition in the summer. He won't have the players for a full pre-season. He is probably going to change formations and styles. Some notable players are probably going to be moved on.

I've read on here that he is going to make the defenders better by pulling some master stroke with a high press. It isn't that easy. I've read on here that he is going to tell Sterling to take players on, so he'll improve.

I've read on here that he'll integrate youth and they'll be like Busquets and Pedro. He's good but he can't make wine out of water.

If everyone expects him to have us playing like Bayern or Barcelona instantaneously then prepare to be disappointed. We have some serious issues with the playing staff, it'll probably take half a season.

In that half a season, he will be ridiculed as a flop, that he can't cope in the "greatest league in the World". The press will be all over it. He'll go toe to toe with them like Mourinho did.

I'm just worried that blues will have expectations built too high and won't be able to sustain the patience while the changes are made.

There is a real danger it will take him a season to get us up and running and playing well (considering how far we have fallen) ...then we only get 2 seasons to win things before he moves on

Rags propaganda machine will be in full swing - especially as their " supporters " " didn't want him anyway " !
