Hart must play in the final

Regarding second choice keepers I would have had every confidence in say Pantilimon. However Caballero is a wreck. It's simple play him we lose, play Joe we stand a chance. Cup finals don't come round every day or season for most. You have to give it your absolute best. Finals should be played balls out to win.

Because it is relatively meaningless compared to progression in the Champions League and ensuring a top 4 finish.
If this is the clubs view then we might as well pack it in now. Barca, Bayern and Juve take domestic cups seriously and so should we, silverware is silverware and it all adds up.

It's one game? You are prioritising two competitions we have little chance of winning over a one off cup final at Wembley? I was disappointed with the selection yesterday and going out of the FA cup but to do this on Sunday would be criminal. It's a final at Wembley, we was trophyless last year and this is our only realistic chance of winning something. A cup is a cup and I never thought I'd see the day we would be happy to throw a final. It's not even a choice either, it's not play Hart Sunday and lose to Kiev and finish outside the top 4? We could play Hart sunday, maybe win the cup and still progress in the other two?

Bang on ! Why did we bother selling tickets for a game if they aren't all in ? Chelsea didn't rest coutois so why do we need to rest hart

Simple, Joe Hart is our number One keeper, valued club player, who on merit is No1. You wouldn't drop Aguero for your reserve striker in a Cup final so why should Willy play? IF and a big IF, Willy was on form he would still be the reserve keeper but as he showed yesterday he is far from on form. Drop him, forever.

Caballero really was dire yesterday

Horror flashbacks to big Joe Corrigan at his jitteriest.... and that. 6 game loan spell by Barry Siddall, in the mid 80's.

Going off topic a tad, Does anyone remember when Joe had that blinder at Molineux that, arguably, saved his career at City?

I always thought that it was around November 74, but Joe is always quoted, in interviews, as saying it. was (sometime) in 1975.

Playing willy in the final after yesterday to me is a total lack of respect for the cup final, the fans and the other players. He is gash he knows he deserves to be dropped. Those of you chunnering on about respecting him and being loyal need to grow up a. It is a final and you pick you best team b. Professional Sport is about winning that's the priority not protecting willy caballeros ego. He is owed nothing. He had a chance yesterday to swipe the spot for the final and he had a fucking nightmare AGAIN. If mp picks him for final what little, and it is little, respect I have for him will evaporate.

Stupid thread, astonished it has got so many replies.

We all know Caballero will play the final just like Pants did two years back.

This is only our 4th final in 35 years. Why take the risk with a player who hasn't played much and is in bad form over one of the best goalkeepers in the country. We would have killed for a semi final never mind a final during most of that period. He has to play his best team.

He wont though because he a poor manager. He has effectively been sacked mid season and given his job back as a caretaker role. I doubt he will give much of a shit what people think.

Correct.
It seems to be an agreement that the 2nd keeper is playing the domestic cup ties. Therefore the manager has to trust his 2nd keeper and if he trusts him there cannot be a reason why that should change for the final game. It's not based on the principle of performance.
Pellers will not and cannot change this now. The next manager will.

But why are so many lads on here so completely wrong about the performance of Willy yesterday?
What exactly was his fault?
1st goal: Should he pick up the cross? Joe wouldn't have done. (I prefer keepers using the advantage of catching the ball and so does Pep...)
2nd goal: Sleeping defence, quick counter difficult to defend, perfect finish by Willian.
3rd goal: Short distance, no time to react, deflected by Fernando.
4th goal: Poor speculation by Willy, his only fault.
5th goal: Bad luck, difficult to catch without hitting the post.

So why should Willy alone be responsible for the defeat? He was a poor guy to be the keeper in that strange FA cup game.

I think Joe is a better keeper. I would play him at Wembley. Although I clearly would prefer Willy for penalties!
But my view is not based on yesterday's performance.
And I doubt the choice of the keeper will decide the final. We do have too many other and bigger problems on the field.
