Stupid thread, astonished it has got so many replies.
We all know Caballero will play the final just like Pants did two years back.
Correct.
It seems to be an agreement that the 2nd keeper is playing the domestic cup ties. Therefore the manager has to trust his 2nd keeper and if he trusts him there cannot be a reason why that should change for the final game. It's not based on the principle of performance.
Pellers will not and cannot change this now. The next manager will.
But why are so many lads on here so completely wrong about the performance of Willy yesterday?
What exactly was his fault?
1st goal: Should he pick up the cross? Joe wouldn't have done. (I prefer keepers using the advantage of catching the ball and so does Pep...)
2nd goal: Sleeping defence, quick counter difficult to defend, perfect finish by Willian.
3rd goal: Short distance, no time to react, deflected by Fernando.
4th goal: Poor speculation by Willy, his only fault.
5th goal: Bad luck, difficult to catch without hitting the post.
So why should Willy alone be responsible for the defeat? He was a poor guy to be the keeper in that strange FA cup game.
I think Joe is a better keeper. I would play him at Wembley. Although I clearly would prefer Willy for penalties!
But my view is not based on yesterday's performance.
And I doubt the choice of the keeper will decide the final. We do have too many other and bigger problems on the field.
