Laporte is class. Fast AND intelligent. Kompany is injury prone and needs to be protected for the final years of his career with us.

Surely a club trained player counts towards that 4 home grown quota?Wouldn't he be club trained rather than home grown, so we would still need 4 home grown as part of the 21.

Well it could but it would be a waste of a squad place we can have up to 17 non home grown in the 21 then there has to be 4 homegrown to make it 21. We can then add up to 4 club trained to make 25. As Denayer would be club trained then he would be used to make up the 25 rather than as part of the 21.Surely a club trained player counts towards that 4 home grown quota?

In the CL squad at least 4 club trained players are needed for the 8 locally trained (home grown) places. All 8 could all be club trained if we had enough of first team quality. For the PL there is no club trained requirement.Wouldn't he be club trained rather than home grown, so we would still need 4 home grown as part of the 21.
