The Pep 'Survivor List'

How many do you think we will sign though, looking at peoples lists ? 7/8/9 ?

In the Pep Confidential book, he states that his ideal squad is 20 players. I think it'll be 8 or 9 coming in, the squad players definitely need upgrading.

I think a hell of a lot of our players will all of a sudden look like completely different players next season when we have a proper manager who actually gives them a system to play in, the defensive players in particular. Defenders are only as good as the system they are in and we currently don't have a system, other than the suicidal offside trap. I think we will have too many survivors to mention, it's more about the handful of players who will leave. For me they will be Kolarov, Willy, Demichelis, Yaya and maybe Bony and Zaba. Maybe a couple of others. I can't imagine the 15 player clear out that some seem to be imagining, more just a refreshing of our fullbacks and an overhaul of our central midfield.

4 or 5 players for our strongest 11 (Left back, Stones, Gundogan, Pogba, Xhaka) and 5 squad players to replace the dross like Bony, Fernando, Navas, etc. Probably a replacement for Willy included in that too.

Hart; Zabaleta, Kompany, Stones, LB; Xhaka, Gundogan, Pogba; De Bruyne, Aguero, Sterling. Sounds amazing to me.

Certainly does,it is that time of year for playing fantasy football,we will have to be in Champs league though to attract them you mentioned, maybe not Stones (who I don't rate too highly....yet)

One thing's for sure, Pep isn't stupid. Bayern we most definitely are not and he must know how bad we've been since we won the PL in 2014. He has a reputation to maintain so he must believe he can do something with what we have and could bring in.

We can't get rid of them all so a fair few will stay just because we need a squad and he can't replace them all overnight.

I'm not saying I want all these to stay, I'm just being pragmatic.

To stay I have Aguero, Kompany, De Bruyne, Sterling, Hart, Iheanacho, Zabaleta or Sagna, Fernandinho, Nasri, Delph, Denayer, Mangala, Navas, Clichy.

I'm not sure what he'll do with Toure and Silva, I guess it depends on who he can bring in.

Caballero, Wright, Bony, Kolarov, Demichelis, Fernando and Otamendi just aren't good enough.

An awful lot of work for Pep to do, but he must think he can do it or he wouldn't be coming.

Straight after last nights game, I tweeted he was coming with at least 15 new players as well as his back room staff!!

Having calmed down a bit this morning, I am thinking that some will survive simply because they will be coached and organised far better than Pellegrini's "Alamo or nothing" tactics, which after 3 years have been sadly found out now.

We have been and remain, pretty piss poor off the ball so that would be Pep's first issue to improve on, so you can make several arguments for who stays and who goes on that basis.

Purely from an age point of view 2 of the 4 full backs should be / should have been replaced anyway, though despite being the oldest Sagna has been the best of the 4 this season, so my theory is a little tested there, but I think 2 will go, 1 definitely being Kolarov.

Demac will be shipped out ( 12 months too late ) as will Yaya and more than likely the very poor Fernando. Both Mangala and Otamendi will get at least one season under Pep and despite his many critics, I think Navas will be retained - he works hard for the team, but just needs to be told he's a winger from time to time and he should feel good enough in his own skin to rip 95% of the left backs in this league apart. Keep him back 20 mins after training for crossing practice and he's pretty much there for me.

Sterling will get at least a season due to his price tag and again a better coach working with him should see a vast upturn in form, but I think he's far from safe. ditto KDB. That said, I don't see KDB as a worker, so he may need to sharpen up a bit also.......

Bony - will be back on loan at Swansea.

The squad on the whole has been seriously imbalanced this season, we seem to have obtained 5 players all wanting to play in the "No 10 role" with no real wingers and an ageing and slow central midfield, we are definitely 2 strikers short and thinking we could make do with what we had was always nonsense. Bigger decisions on the likes of Kompany's ( lack of ) fitness might not be too far away too, but that's not a priority for next year.

In summary -

Out - Kolarov, Bony, Fernando, Yaya, Willy, Sagna or Zabba? Demac, ( In at least 2 new full backs, 2 midfielders & 2 centre forwards )

12 month watch - Sterling, Managla, Otemendi, KDB, Ferna , Nasri & 2 remaining full backs.

Safe ( for next year ) - Aguero, Hart, Kompany ( fitness allowing ) Kelaetchi, and probably despite being way off form for most of this season, Silva.

Watching that performance — or whatever you want to call it — yesterday got me to thinking who, in my opinion, will definitely survive of this squad, once Pep is in. Now I'm not saying the clear-out will be all at one fell swoop, this summer. But I believe that these players, and these only, are fairly certain of still being at this club and in the squad about fourteen months from now:

Hart
Fernandinho
Silva
Aguero
Iheanacho
Sterling
De Bruyne

Kompany (?)

I put a question mark after Vinny's name because everything depends on him proving that he can get — and stay — fit. Otherwise, I don't see Pep having any patience with him. I honestly think everybody else could be cleared out, or put out to grass. I think players like Clichy, Zab and Sagna have a fine job, as far as they go (and I love Zab as a guy, does it need saying) but I don't think will feel that players of that age will be mouldable to his style.
What's your survivor list?
1) All four full backs are likely to be replaced over the first 3 windows.
2) Kompany as you suggest will have to prove his fitness
3) Yaya has at most one season left. He may go in summer if the right deal comes up.
4) Silva will most likely be given at least one season to see if he fits in and is suited to new regime.
5) Hart could be a surprise departure but not right away. Good leader and shot stopper but crap command of area and distribution and prone to lapses in concentration so may go if a big name replacement becomes available.
6) Fernandinho, Aquero, De Bruyne, Sterling and Iheanacho look likely to stay.
7) Oti and Mangala will be given a season. Expect Demi to be replaced by another wise old head or Danayer
8) Bony will be sold if a serious bid comes in next summer or more likely go out on one of our infamous loan deals.
9) Nasri is a strange one. IMO here is a player who has under achieved and may have more to offer. Could be given a chance.
10) Willy likely to leave as a hero!!
11) Delph. A terrible season with injuries but another candidate for a loan as I don't see how he can fit in
12) Fernando. Some good displays this season but ultimately uninspiring can't see him lasting too long
Expect 10/12 changes over next 3 windows and 2 or 3 promotions from the EDS into first team squad. As for who will come in its any bodys guess. But I predict some surprise choices mixed in with a couple of super stars!!!

Don't hold your breath on Stones. He will be going nowhere, methinks, now that Everton have got some serious investment behind them.

And Moonchester surely. Not so sure about Moonbeam. Age might be on her side though. Too early to judge!

Haha, say what you like, there's some real crap to trawl through on here, but you can always rely on some good banter on BM to cheer you up after a tonking!

My ideal squad for next season:

Joe Hart (HG)
Ron-Robert Zieler (HG)

Serge Aurier
Pablo Zabaleta
Vincent Kompany
Nicolas Otamendi
Jason Denayer (HG)
Aymeric Laporte
Gael Clichy (HG)
Juan Bernat

Yaya Toure
Fernandinho
Fernando
Aleix Garcia (HG)
Fabian Delph (HG)
Ilkay Gundogan
Granit Xhaka

David Silva
Manu Garcia (HG)

Jesus Navas
Kevin De Bruyne
Samir Nasri
Sergio Aguero
Kelechi Iheanacho (HG)
Raheem Sterling (HG)

Five signings.

The only nailed on survivor is Serge.

Vinny for me is a massive worry(?). I think - "think" only my opinion - we've seen his best, hes 29 now, struggles with his calfs, is one of Mancinis squad. Is it time to move on? Same with Silva. The problem we've had is not recycling at the right time, we've stuck with tried and tested for the main part and added a different supporting cast and we're now reaping the rewards.

A new spine is required, which can be quite intrusive surgery, but needs doing, so the big boys ain't safe....

Cool story. Maybe throw in another 'massive' or two and you're on the right track.

Bssed on Wednesday only three would get to stay:
Sergio Aguero
Ian Acho
KDB

The rest were fecking pants - including Fernandinho & Kompany

Why would it be based on Wednesday?
Aguero wasn't very good either.

Based on Weds, KDB didnt even play, Iheanacho got half hour playing wide where he couldnt influence anything and Aguero didnt get any service what so ever....

I pick the Kiev game, based on that, nothing needs to change. See how easy I made it?

Can't believe people jump on the back of one bad performance. Never mind the fact it was our 3rd Away game in 7 days.
