More flat track bullying

No problem discussing our form against Top 10 sides but why do it immediately on the back of a four nil win? Just seems a bit negative and churlish to me.

I agree. We should rejoice at beating the Villa so handsomely.

Tomorrow we can reflect on City's abysmal league record this season against the decent sides.

Personally I find it a bit infuriating the team decides to turn up, beats a poor side convincingly, but when faced with a more testing challenge continues to disappoint.

We had no more preparation time today than prior to the previous game but the result was a complete contrast.

Still we won which was the main thing and I still believe we will win it. It's the poorest league I can remember and with the quality of individuals I still think we will win it.
have u seen us play this season how can we do that when we cant win a big match

Do I really need to answer such a question? And do you honestly believe anyone who questions our form against the better sides believe we have a divine right to win?? There has been a sharp contrast in our performances against the top and bottom sides and a significant contrast between Wednesday and Saturday. We seem to fail against the teams at the top who press us in contrast to our performances against teams with limited ambition and first instinct is to contain. The contrast is stark and our results against the top 8 which has left us playing catch up this season. Based on this it seems a fair subject to discuss on a forum about Manchester City.
We can't play with the intensity required in midfield. Doesn't matter if you can have 70% possession as we did today, but against the better teams our midfield is non-existent off the ball.

Bollocks. Flat track bullies wouldn't beat Liverpool and Everton and referees on the way to a cup. Flat track bullies wouldn't be on the verge of a quarter final of the champions league.

What has happened is the quality of the teams around the "top 6" has improved drastically and the incumbent powerhouses have gotten soft from years of dominance. West Ham, Leicester and spurs have done great jobs and been very lucky recruiting managers and players, it's a one in a million season.

Next year, order will be resumed.

This year will have been a rude awakening for us, utd and Chelsea.

A season like this won't happen again for a very long time

Personally I am just sobbing with relief that we managed to bully someone and win a sodding game.

It was huge at the time. We ended up being safe by 8 points but were only 4 points ahead of Leeds going into that game with 3 games to play. As it turned out we would have stayed up anyway. The draw at Leicester the week earlier was big too as they were close to the bottom. Leeds/Wolves and Leicester went down on 33 points, Everton who we beat 5-1 at the end of the season were on 39 and we finished on 41.

The importance was it was our first season in the new stadium. Relegation would have been a nightmare then.

Of course we flirted with it again under Pearce but thanks to Mpenza we stayed up again. All important ultimately to where we are now.
Good history, recollection fellow blue. Jesus Christ, that's good knowledge!

Predictably we swatted Villa aside. After all they are crap. Not a one nil but a convincing scoreline. It's what we do against the clubs lining up at the bottom.

What is less impressive is that you have to go down to Southampton to find a side we have actually beaten this season.

We have played sides from Leicester down to United 9 times. 0 wins. 6 defeats. Not impressive.

The only positive is that the 3 games left against these sides are all at home. United, Stoke and Arsenal.

No way will we win the league but we should be able to get top four. Hopefully Pep will sort this out next year.

Must be a barrell of laughs in your house on a saturday night...

And we miss very good chances. It's good that the chances keep coming, but whenever one goes awry I always give MANUre, Spuds, The Arse, CFC the benefit of having scored it! Kun could have had half a dozen yesterday, Bony at least one! It is unquanitifiable how much a missed chance galvanises the opposition!

In reality City should have strolled to the title this season given the start we made, the squad we have and the state of Chelsea, Liverpool and United in the league this season. To not even finish in the top 4 would be nothing short of a disgrace. A 4th place finish would be a massive letdown.

Injuries haven't helped.

Aguero was brilliant yesterday although I think he should have been subbed to protect him. He is more vital than ever.

Against teams like Villa who just sit deep and defend we'e OK. Its a case of getting one goal and then another quickly follows as the speed of our passing and confidence goes up. for the most part we've done well in these sorts of games.

It wouldn't for me.
If we can't win the title then keeping the scum out of the chumps league will do for me.

Our squad is short in midfield. We have Nasri, De Bruyne and Silva but who puts their foot in? Milner was a big loss because Delph came in to replace him and has barely played. We rely on Fernandinho to do all the running and defensive work and he at the same time is the only midfielder who can go box to box.

Champions Leaqe qualification and a trophy is bare minimum.

City and Arsenal both looking vulnerable but I would worry about West Ham more than Utd.

Klopp got it totally wrong at Wembley otherwise they could have won that. They outfought us easily both league games. Any team that can retain the ball and physically compete just dominates our midfield. Happens every time we play a good Premiership team.

We will finish top four without a doubt so i'm not worried about us at all. I simply want the rags to be fifth.
I am not sure we will get top 4. We've been slipping since that great start to the season, and still look weak away from home

There's an identical thread on the forum - why on earth did you feel the need to start this one after we'd just won a match?

Says a lot about the mentality of you Mancini lamenters. So predictable.
