There's no point educating primary school age children about things like this without first educating the parents.
People are free to discuss schools of Facebook if they want and Facebook allow it on their private site. How can anyone have a problem with free speech?
It is not compulsory to be in favour or to approve of equality for gay people, gay marriage or anything to do with homosexuality.
Homosexuality was legalised by act of parliament after free discussion of both sides of the argument. Gay marriage was legalised in the same way. People who advocated legalising homosexuality or gay marriage were not visited by the police while those things were illegal.
It is anti-democratic and authoritarian to now declare that all discussion must end and expressing opposition to the rights provided by these acts of parliament mean you can get a visit from the police.
Police involvement with people who express dissent to the prevailing majority or officially approved views, or current laws, is the mark of an authoritarian regime, not a democracy.
Stupid idea, especially if parents weren't informed beforehand.
If I had kids I'd like them to discover these things on their own or from their parents, and form their own opinion and views. Not have it forced on them by some dippy primary school teachers. Just creates a bigger diversion over the subject than there needs to be.
Why not? Because I would have about 20 permission slips every time they read or did anything .
Am I homophobic for wondering why a gay play was put on at a CATHOLIC primary school??

Who said I thought that?? My question was more aimed towards the fact that the Catholic Church is/has been opposed to such lifestyles, yet it is somehow OK to be have a play of this ilk in a catholic primary school. It's a bit like a vegetarian advertising Angus steaksWhat makes you think Catholics are allowed to be homophobic?

Wrong. What can you teach children about homosexuality without influencing them, which I would assume and hope was not the object of the exercise?
A time and a place, but not at such a young age they are too vulnerable And open to suggestion at that age and there is nothing for them to learn.

Brass Eye is alive and well.....
Do we really need to make little toddlers aware of bowling from the pavilion end. Tolerance is all well and good but if I had a son I'd be upset if he was a homo as I suspect would many of those defending the promotion of it. I don't think that makes me a bigot - more a nimby.
P.S this must be the most pansified, leftie football forum in existence. No wonder City never had a big hooligan following with this bunch of bien pensant do gooders mincing around

why does a primary school kid NEED to know though?Love it when the ones promoting tolerance are the ones who get labelled pansies rather than the ones freaking the fuck out over the possibility a primary school child might know gay people exist.
I know if my son was gay, I wouldn't give a flying fuck. His happiness is what matters to me.Do we really need to make little toddlers aware of bowling from the pavilion end.
