The Captain on ticket prices

A telling comment ""You'll get stadiums filled with businessmen and tourists who leave the stadium 10 minutes the end to avoid traffic games. You lose atmosphere."

We must have a few already.

He's absolutely right and it's astonishing just how fucking small time the club are being over this.

Some seriously short-sighted, simple cunts making these decisions.
The players should be saying to the board "We want a full stadium for these games and we want noise and passion. That's more important to us than a few thousand quid." They were quick enough to shout when they didn't like the manager.

We do,our fan base has changed so much since 2008 and it is changing every year for the worse

Our Captain at his very best and I would assume that the club have approved that statement. It could be an indicator that our prices are not going up next season.

An honest, informed opinion yes but not necessarily one which would be endorsed by the board.
I hope this is not indicative of growing gulf between club and captain.

To be fair as much as Kompany is right and is a great lad why don't the players all chip in and subsidise the fans expenses if they value the support that much? That would be a lovely gesture and would be pocket change to them..

Just saying.. As the club is the enemy here but how about our heroes do a bit more? It's easy saying words

At the end of the day The club is a business and as such has specific targets to meet. So Ideally yeah cheaper tickets would be nice but this is modern football.
The club is about to get £81m a season from the TV deal. They could give every SeasonCard away for free and still be well up on profits!

The club want tourists and corporates. They want families who will visit the club shop and treat the matchday as a family day out, spending on souvenirs and over priced food. They don't want the working class bloke who turns up with his mates, spends fuck all apart from a pie and a pint at half time and fucks off as soon as the game is over. It's the latter who has kept the club going and the club couldn't give a fuck about them now.

The reason they can't is because the players and agents will want the lot. It is okay VK speaking up when he is is over the hill and not likely to get another mega deal.

And they'll wonder why the atmosphere is fucking shite. Cunts. When will he realise that we aren't fucking Barcelona?

You talk as if the club would care. Far too many people putting far too much importance on this Captain thing. Even the thread title indicates some form of importance to the role. I'd be stunned if the club cared what he thought, as at the end of the day he's an employee.

It's the 'die hard' fans who leave early. Tourists stay to make the most of it.

Good point. Hopefully some kind of rebate or discount will be factored-in to the renewals prices for those that have to leave a bit earlier due to extenuating circumstances, or the traffic.

I wonder if the time has come to get Garry Cook back on board. He was one of the exec management team that seemed to be connected to the supporters views and might be able to build a few bridges.

The club will recognise Vincent's importance unlike some fans who don't seem to be able to grasp it.

Yeah right. Grasp what? Now if he was on the executive board with a say in things then fine, but I don't think he is, otherwise we wouldn't be getting silly ticket prices. I've no doubt Kompany has thought this for a while, and may even have mentioned it, but if you think he's got sway over the decision makers, then fine for you, but I don't for a second think he does. The club could raise prices of season tickets by 10% the coming season and still sell them - that's what matters to those who make the decisions.

Oh, and I'd rather 'the Captain' be sticking his boot up the players arses come game day - as far as I'm concerned that's his job, not negotiating ticket prices.

His so-called importance is of limited interest to the club in a season of so many injuries.
Can you really see Pep putting up with our best central defender being out half the time? VK isn't City 2016, he may have been pure City in the past, but not when he's in the treatment room.

I was referring to the captains role being important in a general sense rather than him having sway over ticket prices. I think we're lucky enough to have one of the best in the business.

Well Vincent, what about you and the rest of the players take a 10% pay cut,. Let's call it a solidarity payment
25 players earning on average £80k per week = £104M
That'll be over ten million pounds subsidising cheaper tickets
Doing the maths on league fixtures, that's £10 per ticket on 50,000 tickets
