This season has been one massive disappointment with very few highs at all.
After a wonderful start , the wheels have come off big time, and the Cup win over the Dippers is a hollow victory, compared with what I was expecting and hoping for.
Despite the massive injury problems which we have encountered, the lack of a plan B and uninspired tactics from Pellegrini has been the most frustrating and annoying, There have been so many times when a look at the team sheet preceded the anticipated p*ss poor performance by the team. Indulgence of players in poor form, and a refusal to introduce young players allied to playing players ( Bony ) so clearly lacking the quality or confidence to perform at the expected level has added to make me personally so disillusioned with the manager and team.
The players have regularly looked half-hearted and uninspired by a manger who doesn't appear capable of lifting the performances from the mediocre level at which we have performed. Every team now knows how to negate our attacks and our defence is so fragile that it is impossible to mount a decent defensive performance.
Our inability to produce any decent performances against the the top 4 teams is a bitter indictment of his leadership qualities , and I am underwhelmed by our progress in the CL , and feel that we have sacrificed too much for this competition .
Today's performance against a poor United team , the young forwards excepted, was really a sad reflection on Pellegrnini's judgement. Firstly playing the slowest central defender we posses against two pacey forwards was a recipe for disaster before the game began but as well as being responsible for the goal, MDM almost let Martial in for another, then compounded his poor performance by being responsible for the injury to Hart imo. It has been obvious to everybody apart from MP that DeMichelis is finished at the top level .
And to further rub salt in the wound, when finally removing MDM, and bringing on a forward to put some pressure on the United defence, Pellegrini decided to ignore the talent of Ineacho and to bring on on Bony, who has demonstrated on a number of occasions that he is totally unsuited to our game.
I have generally been supportive of and defended Pellegrini in the past, but his blatant stubborness and poor judgement has been a source of immense frustration, and I can't wait for the season to end and for Pep to arrive .
