James Milner

Agree to disagree on this one.
I never like to see current or former players given stick unless it's warranted, (for former players. Never ever give current ones stick).

I don't understand how you don't get it. Not many of us were bothered by the way he ran down his contract. That's just football. He did what he thought was best for his career.

What REALLY rankled was the way he celebrated his goal against us. When he scored for City agsinst Villa he refused to celebrate. So why did he celebrate a goal (in a pisstaking fashion) against a club who'd provided him with trophies?

Twat. Him, not you.

He's not grasping it mate, not so many are moaning too much about the way he left even though there is some arguments both sides. Celebrated like a twat so he will now be greeted like a twat. Simple

Might just be me then but I like the way players celebrate against their former teams. It looks a bit silly when they don't, and more often than not they go out of their way to show they're not doing it. Why Milner didn't celebrate against villa, only he knows but that, for me, is the only reason he should be criticised, not for celebrating against us. As far as I'm aware he has no affinity to anyone other than Leeds and so that would be the exception to the rule, if he didn't celebrate against them.

According to talkshite he was one of the consultancy team who designed the latest England strip.

Not me being sensitive, just sticking up for someone who did well for the club and has, in my eyes, done little wrong other than look after himself. The sensitive ones are those giving him stick for that decision. Us, Villa, Newcastle and Liverpool are nothing other than employers to him, and I say that on the basis the only club who might mean anything to him being Leeds.

There have been plenty of media reports quoting Milner in the press and he's said a fair bit. He wasn't played regularly enough and he had an eye on this Euro squad which he wanted to be a part of. The Liverpool move was done and dusted early doors and he was never interested in staying at City. Rather than threaten that move by signing a new deal and getting a fee for City, a club that did so much for him, he decided to just let his run down and then go off to Liverpool, score against us and celebrate. Tonight he'll be captaining the England side.

He's a typical England product of the last decade or so. A real Hodgson player. Will run all day, will be a real 9/10 one week and then 5/10 the next 8 weeks. But he'll work his socks off and that warrants his place in the side. Hard work over quality. The performance against Germany was exciting. Alli was incredible, Kane's goal was brilliant and there was so much pace and power and desire in the side. Follow that up by giving Milner the captaincy... watch Rooney walk back into the starting 11 for the Euro's too.

Anyway, Milner is a ****. I wouldn't begrudge any player moving for footballing reasons but he came to City for money and the promise of trophies. He got them. It was largely thanks to other players rather than his contribution so to grind down a contract, leave for free and then celebrate against us is unacceptable when the fans had no issues with him. I expected more from Jimmy, but he let us down.

Why should or would he give a toss about you though? He literally has nothing to do with us other than we paid his wages. A mate recently moved jobs and his previous employer took a hit by clients following him to his new job. He thinks that's great as its made his new company money. Nothing personal, just business and self interest. No different to Milner running down his contract and coining it at his new employers.
Fans tend to forget that's all football clubs are to the majority of players - merely their employers.

I've heard he compiled a 3000 page dossier on the advantages and disadvantages of V neck vs crew neck.

His first choice was a roll neck but Wooney vetoed it as he has no neck.
That would not surprise me.

I bet the meetings were a laugh a minute...

Your mate doesn't play in front of 50,000 fans each week who sing his name and he doesn't wear the shirt and badge that means so much to so many. You might be happy to accept footballers are mercenaries but I'm not. I wouldn't expect some Brazilian pre-madonna to give a shit about the club and we've been lucky that some of our foreign signings have really embraced our club history. Milner was PFA Young player of the year when we signed him, he already had the tag of being a solid but perhaps not spectacular midfielder and he's had a successful career thanks to his time with us. There was no need for him to celebrate scoring against us the way he did. Seeing out his contract I understand to a degree though it's still disregarding the club that's given him so much. As fans we all supported him when he was at the club.

It's not like Arsenal who slated Adebayor when he was at the club, then booed him for leaving and were then outraged that he celebrated with such elation when he scored for us against them.

This is a man who is labelled a model professional. A man who has respected his old clubs when scoring against them. We took a punt on Milner, no other top club would have, we paid him great wages. He put his all in and ended up winning trophies which he hadn't won before or likely will after. Now whilst it is a job and would look after number one you would of hoped this model professional would have nothing but good words to say about us and give us the respect we deserved. Fuck me Tevez was the least respectful player we have had and he never celebrated against West Ham. He has made a rod for his own back now and I hope he gets the abuse he duly deserves.

To him it's exactly like that. It's simply his job and nothing more. He has no reason to feel any affinity to this or any other club. I certainly don't feel anything towards my employer other than despair each and every day I rock up to the place.

I'll add, too, that footballers are mercenaries barring the odd exception. Delph and KDB certainly wouldn't have grown up giving us a second thought but they disrespected their clubs hugely to move here, Moreso Delph. I tried to say that earlier and was met with excuses for the pair of them and how they got their moves. They're mercenaries like Milner and like 99% of footballers the world over.
I'm hazarding a guess that the villa fans who booed Delph were likely to have been slated on here....

I wasn't fussed about the manner, in which Milner left, though Mrs Vienna was very disappointed that he didn't thank us, the fans, for all the support he received during his time with City.

However, the celebration after he scored against us at Klanfield, put me right off him and i now realise he is a twat of the highest order.

Mrs Vienna just showed me a tweet from the Yorkie twat, in which he claims Sturridge is a much better trainer than Sergio.

He just can't help himself, can he?

Does it matter ?
Average player has moved on to an average club, i couldn't give a toss what he thinks of us or whether he's a c*nt or not.
