Well done boss

Fair play, he gets enough shit when we lose or don't look arsed.

Lets hope we can play with that intensity for the rest of the season and we'll be alright.

Not just you. Something wasn't right with him.
No I noticed that as well. He may have picked up a slight strain. I think he needs to be rested on Saturday but that opens up the probability of Bony starting the game which is not an exciting prospect.

Best we could of hoped for with the instructions he gives the team, it was a good result so his gamble paid off, he also looked like he was involved in the game and adapted as the game went on.

However couldn't believe he took Silva off for Bony, Silva was growing into the game and I honestly think we could have got a third had he stayed on, PSG were looking shattered.

Thought the 2 ferns were superb in the middle. Shame about nando's mistake, but he was solid. Great pairing to have infront of the back 4. Huge Yaya fan, but like these 2 together. Bit part Yaya would be ideal for us...

Bringing Bony on, and then playing him so deep, essentially a midfielder was a huge worry. Didn't understand that one.

But, a good night for us, roll on Tuesday!!
Not sure it was entirely Nando's mistake

I repeat again lets judge the man at the end of the season. We have a good chance of winning this tie now so lets get behind him and the team. As you point out we don't know what position we will finish in the league yet and to a large extent that will determine his legacy. With respect to last night it was a great result in what was a very strange game. It was far from a master class and better opposition would probably have stuffed us but hey we have managed to get ourselves into a good position. However, while I think we had the edge over PSG last night in terms of sharpness I think given we have a must win game Sat evening they will be fresher than us come Tuesday and this could be a factor. Keep the faith.
My sentiments all along. Did you forget to tell me what you would count as a succesfull end to the crescendo of Pellers reign?

Nice try Manuel.

I don't understand it. True blues will remember how bad it was. We always dreamed of being a top team winning trophies. Now we are there & 'fans' aren't happy. I rack my brains but the only answer i ever come up with is 'are they City fans?'

Were you dreaming of that during both Mancini's seasons ?

I've stayed out of this thread so as not to spoil it for those who are happy with the manager's part in last night's setup, which ended up with a great result & a great chance of reaching the next round.

Looked like he'd even had a haircut for the tie. Shame he didn't do it earlier. Might have improved his popularity amongst one or two on here.

Seriously though. Amazing that I open this thread and it's just the same shit and vitriol from the same dozen dickheads who cannot allow anyone to praise Pellegrini no matter what he does. Absolutely standard.

Lets get through the tie first. At the moment I tend to think that the most important factor in us edging the 1st leg was Toure's injury. Had he been fit, Pellegrini would have picked him and they'd have bossed the midfield. As you saw, both our goals came from Fernando winning the ball and us turning their attacks into our counter-attacks. No way that would have happened had Yaya played.

Thanks but no thanks Marv. I'll enjoy the day. Next week will take care of itself. Maybe we'll lose who knows. One things for sure we could win 10-0 and there'd still be nothing but hate and vitriol from the usual suspect suspects.

People are the way they are matey. It will all be history in about 7 weeks anyway. I loved watching us last night. It was another level breached. I'd go as far as saying we are near the top rung of the ladder. Its a huge leap because Barca are on a different planet sometimes but we have been to Munich and won, Madrid and been narrowly beaten and now PSG. We put the fear of god into them last night. No way are City the finished article but they are starting to
believe. This might not be our year just yet...but who knows. If all the fans start to believe in Pell for 7 more weeks we might make history. Surely it cant be that hard for the Peller haters. 7 weeks to pretend you like him. C'mon blues. The 55,000 musketeers. All for one and one for all...lol.;-)

Please tell me what instructions does he give the team.? Please tell, because there wasn't much wrong last night.
Silva came off with 5 too go. Bony was simply there to create a nuisance and hopefully win the game, big ask but it wasn't a stupid idea. Like you say they were dead on their feet. Aguero hadn't offered much most of the night and silva wasn't going to score in the last 5. He had run his knackers off.

More the instructions he fails to give them. Team pressing, done in spits and spats led to both of our goals but doesn't do it consistent enough as it turns into individual pressing and leaves us exposed.

Last night he had clearly told Navas to mark Matuidi, which gave Maxwell the freedom of Paris to get down that left hand side.

No idea what his instructions are on movement but its literally none existent, total opposite to PSG who had strikers dropping off, wingers coming in, full backs bombing on and midfield runners.

I say its best we could have hoped for because 8 or 9 times out of 10 we would have been 2-0 down before De Bruyne had even scored last night. We got a bit of luck which is what you need in cup competitions simple as that really.

Too much ?
So I guess I'll explain
I was under the impression that a manager did more than pick the squad
The intention of the original post was to point out that the goal allowed was a mental lapse on the players behalf.
Ultimately IMO it can be a reflection of the managers style of coaching on the training ground. I think the team looks uninspired at times, and frankly bored sometimes also.
A well disciplined football team, no matter the age, doesn't have those moments.
Not to mention that moment happening in a CL quarter final

Great result, no doubt about it and no matter what you think of Pelle (I think he's ineffectual and at best a facilitator - just my opinion) we are reaching heady heights I never thought I'd see.
