West Brom Post Match Thread

The game summed up Pellegrini's whole term in 90mins, wrong team selection left it as was for 60 mins. Then his big guns pulled him out of the shit, then he stood there doing nothing whilst it was patently obvious that we needed the hole in midfield plugging. He then ignored our most important striker clearly limping around the pitch. Luckily Pulis took off WBA's best player.

Bad start but great fightback and we held onto the win.
Subs changed it, didn't think Delph was doing that bad, but Yaya and Kevin brought the quality we were lacking.
Nasri was brilliant. First start since injury, helped create the pen and scored the winner. But for his 200th appearance, roughed up yet worked hard the whole game, another unstoppable penalty Agüero motm for me.
Celebrating no injuries as much as the win. Excited for Tuesday.

The game summed up the fact we have a huge game on Tuesday with a CL semi final at stake and that we still put out a side today that on paper should take care of West Brom with ease.

The fact we struggled is down to those fringe players just not being up to the job and knowing that their futures lie elsewhere right now but that said, we still got the win and its all that matters.

Bony being picked aside and he didn't let their first goal in, i dont know what else the gaffer could have done today.

I have to disagree , he simply doesn't fit into the City team in any capacity whatsoever. He is a massive disappointment and goodness knows why Pelligrini persists with him and yet leaves Ineacho on the bench.

Seriously poor management imo !

Have to agree.
I have 'some' sympathy for not wanting to put too much pressure on a young player, and I also have a lot of sympathy for the fact that we don't see player attitudes behind the scenes, but based on on pitch performances only - it's sending out all the wrong signals. If you're in form, you play - and relative to Bony, Iheanacho is in form.

Iheanacho is an opportunity to demonstrate to our youth that you CAN make the first team and be a consistent starter if you play well enough.

I can't even bring myself to suggest that we're putting Bony in the shop window - as he's doing nothing to sell himself. Are we hoping that his mere presence in the team might hoodwink another club into thinking he's rated by us?

Good result!! Thank fuck Yaya came on and changed the game..

Well done Nasri..

100% penalty I thought and no need for it, we got lucky for once.

I was sort of with those blaming the system rather than the player but I think he is rash, lacks intelligence, has little pace over the first five yards and panics under pressure.

If Pep turns him into a player it will be some achievement.

Think it would be easier for Pep to walk on water than turn Mangala into a player

We are a team with real class with 3 or 4 very average players currently playing for us.

Bony, Fernando and Delph are absolute dross.

And the two centre halfs remain totally unconvincing.

Some seem to love Delph for me he is absolutely average at best.

Once again he selects a 4-4-2 and a vastly inferior team is allowed to control possession and the pattern of play against us. Don't think Kelechi would have been helped if he'd started ahead of Bony with that formation. Having said that, for whatever reason, Bony just does not fit our style and it is better for all sides if he is sold in the summer. Kelechi has so much more in his locker but his confidence must be dented at repeatedly not being giving a decent amount of game time. Pellegrini clearly does not trust youth - see Denayer and Patrick Roberts for added proof. Kolarov was great going forward but exposed defensively. Zabba had a shocking first half. I blame him for not trying to stop the cross for the first goal. Hart gave everyone more nervous moments and seems to punch everything these days - but he is neither convincing not intelligent as to where he punches it to. Left Aguero on way too long and he must be a slight doubt for Tuesday. Pep has an enormous task on his hands on the evidence of this season. Nasri deservedly motm.

Try doing those bags with one hand,it's a nightmare lol

Quite OT but i killed 2 of those bags last time i went shopping, onn ript open when i put bannana's in there and the other ript when i tried to open it and i put a little bit too much force. I'm wondering if they are reducing the thickness of those sacks to molecular level in order to make a saving of 0.05 eurocent per bag.

Not the best performance but at this stage it's the results that matter and we got the three points. Nasri was very lively but Kev is some player, Pep's gonna turn him into one of the best. Hopefully Spurs can get a win tomorrow to give us some breathing space before we go to Chelsea next week. Cannot wait for Tuesday now, although we'll have to be much better than today.

Navas is not good enough either.

I think the 'love' for Delph is more acceptance that he's not fantastic, but puts in a shift and works to the best of his ability. I think we expect more from the other players mentioned (maybe due to their fees?).

A win's a win, hopefully other results continue to go our way this weekend.

We'll in nasri, great to see him winning the ball back in last 10 mins too, not something I ever associated him with.

Bony, Jesus h... just so frustrating. He doesn't seem to know to drop to the pen spot or run towards the post when we get it down the flanks and cut it back. Seems always to have too many things in his mind. It's not gonna work out, shame but he is a shadow of the player we bought from Swansea.

Thought otamendi yet again commits too much. Gave away a few needless free kicks in dangerous areas.

Roll on Tuesday. Wrap up Kev and Sergio in cotton wool!

Delph, given a few years more experience in this sort of team and hopefully an injury-free run, will be a class player. Very useful squad player.
