David Silva

It is quite a thought that we have had our best, 2nd best and 3rd best players ever in the same team at the same time for the best years of their careers. All bought by Mancini (two on the same day if I recall correctly).

But we haven't, though.

If Colin Bell isn't the best ever City player, he's certainly better than fourth best.

Now, if you put Nijinsky in a team with Merlin, Yaya and Kun...

Fucking hell!

David wants to thank everyone for making it a sell-out tomorrow. He was eager for it to be full & loud.
I did explain the pricing issues to him on Saturday & he fully understood. However he did say, "but we may make history."

Come on City !! Vamos City !!

I suspect by your username you remember bell, he was just a bit before my time. Where would you place him in our best all time list?

Did a lot of sitting back and digging in in the first half but then lost it a bit as he got tired. He probably should have been subbed after 60 minutes but overall played quite well and found some nice little pockets. Looks a lot better when KDB is in the side.

I wish he would bloody shoot but he put in a shift, showed moments of his great class and was more like his usual self today.

Pretty much how i saw it. I was someone who said earlier in the season that i felt they couldn't play in the same side, but I think what we're seeing is that if KDB's given that central position, they can dovetail very nicely off each other.

He was much better going forward today! Switched off defensively - not tracking runners, letting them in down our left, but I guess that'll never be his game. Pep won't like it though.

Thought Silva was pretty good tonight. 7/8 out of 10 for me - not quite at his very best. Getting there though.
On the wider topic introduced, I watched Bell from 1967, and whilst I would say that he was the best I had seen upto about 2008, its very hard to choose a top 2 or 3 , but, I just wanted to put forward the best in my view in recent years. Carlos Tevez . How can anyone leave him out of the list of our very best players? Ignore the shit that happened - what a player he was.
What a great night!

Tracking back has never been his game.

Tracking back has never been his game.
It hasn't, no. But I do wish he'd do it more reliably. When we see the likes of Robben go from a lazy **** to a relentless presser in his prime at Bayern, it must surely be possible to acquire tracking and pressing as a skill? I dunno.

Tbf, he does track back quite a bit (more than KDB, not as much as Navas) but he's not good at defending. He can nick the ball now and then but that's about it.

Had a decent game.

he almost cost us at one point. I hope pellers points out the incident and doesn't let it slide. ( the incident where he tried to play the offside trap)
the was just plain lazy.

still a good game tonight. He actually looked for the first time in a while like he had strength on the ball and was not going to be pushed off.

Great tonight, played above his ability defensively and was brilliant at holding the ball and seeing us into the counter, badly let down by the linesman in one instance. Very happy, his best performance this season, hopefully a sign of things to come.

Disappointed in him tonight. He is too lightweight in a scenario where the opposition defence and midfield are fast and strong. I thought he got overpowered time and again tonight.
He excels when we have possession and movement but tackles and physicality are not his bag.

not impressed with his performance tonight, second half was better but couldn't make a pass all first half
