I'm guessing he will be called up but maybe not played as much as usual due to the likes of Isco and other younger ones coming through this seasonGenuine question, what are the chances of him not making the Spain squad?

For those of you genuine Silva admirers and there are too many to PM..
To allay any slight fears.. David was just genuinely rested yesterday. It's fantastic that KDB & Nasri are now fit and this is an option.
Bring on Tuesday night !

I will cry if he's left out, given time to rest and then sold anyway. Really want to see him play another season fully fit under a world class manager.
Not sure whether he will be left out of the Spain squad judging from the rather inept performances of other players (e.g. Isco and Mata) in recent friendlies. Don't know if it is a good thing or not for his physical health. But I'll probably be in shock (and tears) if he were sold this summer. Pep most likely won't treat us that badly though.

it'd be a terrible decision to sell Dave, it's not like we have a near-world class bench right now so it wouldn't make sense to sell IMHO.Given how many players we should be looking to move on this summer, if we get as far as selling Dave we'll be looking to buy nearly a whole new squad!
Bingo.if Silva accepts being rotated next season a bit more than he is used to, until/if he plays himself back to form, then there's no way we will sell but if he demands 1st team start then im not sure Pep will go with that.

Bingo.
I've seen him looked pissed when subbed. And a players reaction when he is worshipped and first name on the sheet versus when considered a sub can be quite different. Silva has not had a reason to throw a fit. Every manager, management personnel and fan consider him an Icon. And his performance has supported such a status. So in truth there has never been cause for him to throw a fit. This is the 1st season his had poor enough performances that the coach considered subbing him as a tactical move as opposed to a resting move. And he didn't seem pleased in the 2 occasions it happened. As any proud superstar would.Have either of you got the impression over the last 6 year that he is the type of player to throw a hissy fit and demand to be starting as soon as a new coach arrives?
His dream is to play for his childhood club Las Palmas, he's said plenty of times that's the only place he wants to go so he can emulate his hero Valeron. I expect he'll be here another couple of years and then go, no matter how much he plays.

If Silva believes he is still able to excel every game, he is not gonna take kindly to being a role player. Most superstars dont. And he is one. If he thinks age an Injury are becoming a factor ( and he sees the value in saving himself for big games and rotating) then he'd stay.
That's coz he was never the top dog at National team level, Iniesta and Xavi were. He was their sidekick. Here, he is the top dog. So it's a different mental state. He's never complained about a side role in the spanish squad.
