Well done boss

Genuinie fence sitter here - read NK and I think he's right and then yours and see your logic.

That's fair comment.

I think Pellegrini is and always has been a manager to take us forwards not the cherry on the top. I believe as I said, he's effectively been Pep's 'water carrier'.

For me he's made mistakes, I personally can see they're not all on his shoulders.

Others feel it's all on him and he's been employed as a manager no different to anyone else.
What I find bizare, they make room for the obvious change in infrastructure yet don't agree that Pellegrini is also part of that change. They judge him like anyother whilst at the same time admitting his job is different.

I feel Txiki has made mistakes too, but he's by all accounts untouchable becuase he's secured Pep.

I hope we don't win it. Having to put a star on our badge do soon after we removed three of the fuckers would be hugely embarrassing.
I read these threads mainly because its very entertaining seeing grown men arguing over shite pretending that their opinions are somehow facts. But then posts like this help me to remember the blue mentality isn't completely lost.

I'll give Pellers this much...

He's a great individual. Very humble; very classy knowing that he won't be here next season.

He doesn't piss anyone off.

He's loyal to his players.

And he seems willing to change from his favorite 442 when 442 proves to be disastrous.

But beyond that... he's got a lot of faults. Unable to motivate the team; bizarre substitutions; strange tactics/strategy often times.

I look forward to Pep.

This whole back and forth will hopefully become irrelevant in a few weeks. If pellers wins the champs lge with this squad, this year, with these injuries, he has proven himself to be a far far better manager than guardiola.

Simple.

If we win the CL then we and Pellers are the Kings of Europe this year. As you say. Simple.

Perhaps.

But, where oh where, is RDM these days?

I didn't say Pellers is a better coach than Pep. I am not even saying that City are the best team in Europe. I just said that City and Pellers will be the Kings of Europe for this year if we win the CL. And I for one am going to bleeding milk it to the max if we do.

Do you honestly believe that statement? Like really, you think if we win the CL that would automatically put Pellegrini ahead of Guardiola in management terms?

I think 'Simple' isn't too far off the mark...

Touche!

When we win it, it'll be the usual "Mancini's squad" bullshit.
Yes, this will be said if we win the final, no doubt.

Ironically, until Pep arrives, I really don't think that the Manager has had a tremendous amount of say in our signings recently. Mancini clearly wasn't happy with Rodwell/Wright/Sinclair?Maicon/Nastisic/Garcia in 2012/2013.

I think that Mancini was in a stronger position with respect to influencing the club's signings than Pellers ever was. It always struck me that Pellers was just a place-holder until Pep became available.
=================

That said, once Pep arrives, I think he'll have a huge amount of say about who is signed, much, much more-so than any of our previous recent managers.

If, and it's still a big If, Pellers wins the champs lge this year, then that means obviously that guardiola doesn't.

That would mean that in 3 years with a better squad then Pellers has, and a less demanding league campaign each year (in terms of better able to rest players and still win the league etc), that guardiola has failed to win the champs lge, whilst Pellers HAS , and has done so with what many regard as a weaker squad (read any match day thread, there is ALWAYS at least 2 or 3 players that are "shit", every single match), in a league where he is less able to rest star players and one that doesn't have the benefit of a winter break to rest and rejuvenate players.

That to me at least, and I don't expect to convert anybody to my point of view, would make Pellers a far better manager than pep. Far better.

It would also mean pep would be under simply enormous pressure to repeat the feat in at least one of the next 3 seasons given that he would undoubtedly have the benefit of this squad with millions of pounds with of new additions added to it. If he were to do so then fucking brilliant , it means city would be euro champs again. Great.

If he were to fail it would rightly be seen as a huge let down and a failure.

Sums it up perfectly lol.

So you're basing their ability on the next couple of games and dismissing the sheer weight of evidence that points to Pep being superior over the last 6 years or so?

In some ways it will be hugely ironic if we win the CL this year. (Not that I really expect to.)

Even better if we win it with a goal from Bony in the last ten seconds of injury time. People's heads would explode.

Nope, I'm basing it on the last 3 years. Years in which they have both had similar quality squads (albeit with Bayerns being slightly stronger) , and both operated in similar leagues (albeit Germany being easier for a "big" club to win the league in due to the strength of the EPL from 1-19 (excluding villa as there is one of these type teams most years), years in which pep's team has had 3x winter breaks and played less games, certainly less highly competitive games.

If pep wins it this year and Pellers therefore doesn't, for me he has the edge, just. If neither win it this year, I'd put them about level. If Pellers wins it this year, then for the reason already stated, Pellers would be surely seen by most people as a superior manager.

The ideal scenario would be for Pellers to win it this year and pep to rescue his reputation by winning it in the next 3 years surely?

Pep doesn't have a reputation to rescue.
