Spanish police

It's nothing personal, as in to call these men "scum" is pointless as it's the lack of communication skills and tolerance levels that is the problem. Can't blame the trigger happy guardia here, just the way in which they are trained.

They're just doing a job, and are told what to do themselves.... So do as you're told and don't fuck about.
There is no reason to attack without imminent danger, but luckily it didn't escalate into a full blown riot.

Travelled all over Spain, watched city/England and Malaga CF plenty of times and never had any problems with Police.

As someone who knows you outside this forum and thinks you're a decent bloke, that's a very poor post Ste.

The police were a fucking disgrace last night and that's putting it mildly. Once I'd gotten through the crush outside, I tried making my way up the steps to my seat and got twatted back down onto the concourse for no fucking reason whatsoever. I was one of the lucky ones - when I finally managed to get to my seat I saw a City fan in his mid-50's who had been beaten up outside by the police and was sporting the kind of injuries one would expect if he'd gone 12 rounds with Mike Tyson in his prime.

I spoke to a mate on the phone at half time. A Spanish guy works at his place. He's a Real Madrid fan and his been telling him for years that the police in Madrid are utter cunts when it comes to football - apparently their shitty behaviour is a running joke amongst the Real fans.

I didn't go yesterday but did go to the previous game we played there and the Police did appear intimidating and you got the sense that they would not need much excuse to use force.

They were absolutely itching for it last night.
Simply stopping to take photos was met with shoves and threats. Took photos of one particularly unsavoury over aggressive bully and will send them to the club. Not that it will achieve anything but I'd feel better. Disgusting way to treat people.

I'm back in England now, just want to say thanks again to the blues who gave me some euros, I've never felt so vaunerable ever, if it wasn't for their generosity I wouldn't have got to the airport!!
Not one of you guys would even give me their names, I hope to meet you all again to buy you a pint or three.

It seemed that there were groups of 10 or 12 of them all over the place, stood about chatting to each other. Perhaps that's not the best way to build a rapport with the fans.

I had to laugh at the police on the stairwells after the game, visors pulled down in full riot mode. Whey would they expect a riot on the stairwells?

I travelled over with the hope of getting a ticket, didn't manage it unluckily but watched in a pub with a load of blues and madrid fans. No trouble at all, but when left the place was surrounded by police for some reason. I just put my head down and walked through the wall of them, but there were a few needless shoves. Seemed unnecessary as the mood in the bar and surrounding area was good natured

Exactly right. The 6 tier hold and call routine (or kettling if you'd prefer to call it that) they had going on outside the stadium was ridiculous. Having witnessed the 2 turnstile shambles at Ajax, I make a point of getting to European away games early now and I joined the queue last night at 20:10hrs local time. I got to my seat then as they kicked off. 35 minutes to complete what should have been a 2 minute walk. And of course as we were finally able to make our way up the ramparts, Blues still way back in the queue outside were getting understandably angsty about missing the start of the game, at which point Franco's thugs just waded into them with the sticks. They caused all the aggro with their own inept handling of security arrangements and then used that as the excuse to batter the fuck out of any dissenters. I'm with you. They're cunts

No problems going in. Had ticket checked three times and searched twice. Didn't seem bothered about wristbands and no-one asked for ID. Don't know why we all had to go out down one exit when there was another one available.
Does anyone know what happened to the bloke who fell backwards down some steps and knocked himself out?
My father in law that mate only found out myself this morning wondered I couldn't find him after the game, spent the night in a Madrid hospital but wouldn't let his son out to go in the ambulance so had get a taxi and tour all the hospitals searching for him! He's out and on the train to Malaga had to book more flights back to MCR but his car is at Leeds Bradford

disgraceful getting in and out of the stadium last night - that stadium is dangerous.

Didn't help loads of blues turning up en masse right before kick off, I include myself in that. Everyone seemed well behaved around us, fair play to all the blues there as it had the potential to escalate quickly.

Apologies if I caused offense bud, I was just going off my own experiences of previously attending football throughout Spain in the past 15yrs.
I wasn't there for this fixture and from reading accounts of other posters after my post I've learnt of the situation more and have changed my views.

Saw the medics dealing with him as we went in. Pleased to hear he's ok.

I'd encourage any City fans who visited Madrid to message City. City should be making a complaint about the policing so it doesn't happen again.
