Spanish police

My father in law that mate only found out myself this morning wondered I couldn't find him after the game, spent the night in a Madrid hospital but wouldn't let his son out to go in the ambulance so had get a taxi and tour all the hospitals searching for him! He's out and on the train to Malaga had to book more flights back to MCR but his car is at Leeds Bradford

Saw him on the way in, and he looked in a bad way so glad to hear he's OK.

The police last night were spoiling for a fight, and the security checks on the way in were ridiculously over the top.

We got there about a hour before kick off and got in fine no problems at all, I'm guessing the police reaction was based on the fact they don't know how to handle a crowd closer to kick off so just resort to twatting everyone.

The amount of walking wounded in the airport last night was ridiculous.

Is anyone else starting to get fucked off at being charged like royalty to be treat like absolute dickheads €110 euro ticket last night to be bashed and punched about for just making your way to your seat.

I wasn't there last night however a got elbow to the throat at Villarreal because I was stood at the front of queue as the crowd behind me surged and I was treated like a criminal for reporting a pickpocketing in Barcelona. They're bullies.

The only thoughts I had is that they won't be used to large numbers of away fans. Supporters don't really travel in Spain. There was perhaps 200 Barcelona in Malaga in January and a few sat in with the home fans. It was fine.

That's some assumption to make, especially considering how rampant pick-pocketing is in that particular city.
Apologies if I caused offense bud, I was just going off my own experiences of previously attending football throughout Spain in the past 15yrs.
I wasn't there for this fixture and from reading accounts of other posters after my post I've learnt of the situation more and have changed my views.
34 years ago I went to the World Cup in Spain. Can anybody remember the police in Madrid forming a long corridor and forcing England fans in groups of 4 or 5 to leave the bar they were in; and then attacked them with batons, punches and kicks. This was unprovoked! Nothing has changed since then! The Spanish police are bastards. Funnily enough, the 'Basque' police in Bilbao were completely different, very friendly and welcoming.

I'd encourage any City fans who visited Madrid to message City. City should be making a complaint about the policing so it doesn't happen again.

Didn't this happen last time we were in Madrid? And what were the actions of the club in response

It's nothing personal, as in to call these men "scum" is pointless as it's the lack of communication skills and tolerance levels that is the problem. Can't blame the trigger happy guardia here, just the way in which they are trained.

They're just doing a job, and are told what to do themselves.... So do as you're told and don't fuck about.
There is no reason to attack without imminent danger, but luckily it didn't escalate into a full blown riot.

Travelled all over Spain, watched city/England and Malaga CF plenty of times and never had any problems with Police.
Oh that's alright then if you've had no problems. Try telling that to the poor defenceless old woman getting battered to the ground

I think the club did complain to uefa but their reply was they couldn't do anything about it as the videos that emerged weren't in the ground. Do gmp still send officers over to liase with the Spanish police on match days? if so I'd like to here what they have.

didn't see any GMP , think they relay on mcfc stewards who were out of the depth

Yea,what i also don't understand why do we have the netting obstructing our view!

The police were a disgrace last night. Missed the first 15 minutes because of the chaos outside. Police lining the stairs were agressive and looking for anyone to hit given half a chance. Reached Block 629 where my seat was and we were told it was full and to go in the next block, steward there sent us back to 629!! Police started pushing and shoving because we were blocking gangway. Hiding behind riot gear...utter cowards. Love European aways but think I will give Madrid a swerve next time we draw them.
After all the fuss of picking tickets etc up, we showed no id and no one checked wristband on way in either.

The netting really played havoc as I was on the front row and my eyes kept trying to focus on it, near, when I needed to be focussed on the pitch, far, and gave me a banging headache

Its called Sangria netting mate.

Well know to give you a banging head ;-)

After last night I've decided to only now go to games that don't involve Spain, France and Italy, I'm not wasting my cash to be treated like cattle or a criminal. I know it cuts down where I'll be going but fuck it I'll enjoy Germany etc even more. Nothing will get done until someone is killed and I'm surprised it's not happened you only ha e to take a hit the wrong way or be pushed over and bang your head and it's all over. The fact as well these cunts take no account of age or sex is even worse, cowards the lot of them take their equipment and weapons away and they'd run a mile.

I was not there so can't really comment on what happened. But to say that this is down to a lack of communication skill is bullshit. This is a deep rooted cultural problem within this police force and indeed many other forces around the globe. A lot of these guys enjoy this violence and sorry to say but they are SCUM
