Little bit more of an upbeat thread as opposed to the doom and gloom, although it might not look that way when so few players are named in this thread.

So, which players have been good enough this year, that they can at least hold their head up?

My choices:
Hart - Goes without saying, couple of errors but some world class saves.
Sagna - Mr Consistent, our best defender.
Clichy - Good player when he gets a run of games.
Fernandinho - Also Mr Consistent, scored to crucial goals and had some big game performances.
Iheanacho - Couldn't ask anymore of him in the time he played.
De Bruyne - Just about, needs to be played in position, had some good big game performances and scored crucial goals.

Notable Mention:
Aguero - Tiredness, injuries and lack of supply have been his downfall. Wouldn't be in the top 4 without him though.

I can't choose players like Vinny who has done well when played but has been injured all year. Navas works hard for us but has poor contribution to us actually scoring. Caballero's cup final heroics but so so poor in the FA Cup. So I can't choose players like that or players who have just had good 'patches'.

So 6 or 7 players, about 25-30% of the squad have been good enough in my opinion, damn I know this was meant to be upbeat but that really is a poor return.

Anyway just wanted to say a thank you to those 6 or 7, who actually put some effort in and played to their best or close to the best of their abilities when wearing a City shirt. Only 6 or 7 i'd bother clapping on their lap round the pitch after the Arsenal game.

Not sure whether he'll fit into Pep's team or not, but Fernando has put in some great shifts recently.
Gaffes, too, obviously...

Though people go mad at Navas, he has been one of our best players in the last couple of months and never gives anything less than 100%. I'd add him in to having an alright year, as much as you can expect from a cheap, 30 year old winger.

He come close in my thinking, his performances would come under acceptable, can't fault a player who tries hard. However, I couldn't say good enough because you really expect your right winger to chip in with a few goals or a few assists.

I agree with this. His crossing is improving but now there's no-one ever in the box when he does cross. Hopefully next year brings more players with the ability to support attacks in the area

Some, like Fernando and Mangala, have played themselves into reasonable form after adjustments and injuries made the start of their time here very difficult but that may not be enough to save them from the boot.
I'll also give Sterling a pass for this one season only due to age, injuries and being asked to play a totally different system. His stats aren't too bad also.

Can't argue with any of that. Too many players have had the season off.

Hart, KDB, Sagna, Clichy, Fernandinho, Aguero, Iheanacho. Its not a surprise we have had a shit season when only 7 players have been good enough out of 22.

Hart Sagna Clichy otamendi Fernando fernandinho de bruyne aguero and nacho.
Silva yaya zabba below par.....
Everyone else just not been good enough.

Not far off the money that.

Looks like most of us are on the same page and know which players have represented us just fine and which players have let the club down.

Got to smile at threads like this. naturally, there will be the odd disagreement between posters, but most are agreeing that there have been significant numbers who have been poor, not good enough past their sell by date etc, but the majority all blame the manager for the position we find ourselves in.

So, without wanting to start a shit storm, are people coming round to the conclusion, that whilst Pellers has been poor at times, he is not solely responsible, because that's what I'm starting to read in this thread?

its not all down to him but ultimately its down to the Manager/Coach to get the best out of his players. Whether that's possible with the attitudes of some of ours is debatable.

I would move Sterling into the Let Downs for league form too. I think he has the potential to come good and has done well in the CL but I have been pretty disappointed with what he has done in the league.

I would move Otamendi into the hit and miss as he has had some poor games.

I wouldn't put any of them above 7/10

As I opened up saying,it's all pretty subjective as we all have differing views, but I agree that player attitude is something that needs to be addressed and eradicated once and for all.

Good enough to justify our expectations

Kompany (when fit)
Hart
Sagna
Dinho
De Bruyne (just about)
Iheanacho
Aguero (hit and miss though)

Good enough to have a future under Pep

Hart
Kompany (if fit)
De Bruyne
Iheanacho
Aguero
Fernandinho (maybe)

If u need your boss to motivate you, you aren't very good at your job.
-and unless i'm taking crazy pills again..... Pellers is a large part of making roster decisions... so if talent isn't there...is he not the main one to blame?

Look at how much Klopp improved Liverpool within a few months, without buying a single new player. That should give us an idea of what the difference can be between good and bad coaching. Pep will IMO do wonders even with our existing squad and I am not sure how much sense it makes to make lists of which of our players have been how shit this season. I think we will see less squad changes than most on here expect and hope for.
