Little bit more of an upbeat thread as opposed to the doom and gloom, although it might not look that way when so few players are named in this thread.
So, which players have been good enough this year, that they can at least hold their head up?
My choices:
Hart - Goes without saying, couple of errors but some world class saves.
Sagna - Mr Consistent, our best defender.
Clichy - Good player when he gets a run of games.
Fernandinho - Also Mr Consistent, scored to crucial goals and had some big game performances.
Iheanacho - Couldn't ask anymore of him in the time he played.
De Bruyne - Just about, needs to be played in position, had some good big game performances and scored crucial goals.
Notable Mention:
Aguero - Tiredness, injuries and lack of supply have been his downfall. Wouldn't be in the top 4 without him though.
I can't choose players like Vinny who has done well when played but has been injured all year. Navas works hard for us but has poor contribution to us actually scoring. Caballero's cup final heroics but so so poor in the FA Cup. So I can't choose players like that or players who have just had good 'patches'.
So 6 or 7 players, about 25-30% of the squad have been good enough in my opinion, damn I know this was meant to be upbeat but that really is a poor return.
Anyway just wanted to say a thank you to those 6 or 7, who actually put some effort in and played to their best or close to the best of their abilities when wearing a City shirt. Only 6 or 7 i'd bother clapping on their lap round the pitch after the Arsenal game.
