Still angry

I really hope that you are right re changes on and off the pitch. The general malaise within the playing side of the club is unbelievable, and stems imo from the manager. His relaxed, lazy approach to the game has permeated throughout the squad, most of whom need very few excuses to take the easy route.

When Mancini was here, he wasn't perfect, but he realised that the one missing ingredient at our club was the lack of a big club mentality. Big clubs find a way of winning through adversity, big clubs don't use excuses, and big clubs don't ever produce the kind of performance we saw on Wednesday night. Mancini set to work on instilling this mentality and by and large had done so. And then along comes this 'charming man', who in one fell swoop has destroyed everything that Mancini had started.

Not to open any old wounds, but it is only my opinion that the club made a huge mistake in siding with the shit house players when they dispensed with Mancini. It's not that I had any love for Mancini but if they were going to release him, then why not at least try and find someone who could build on the winning mentality that RM had started. Why go for a guy who was serial failure and had not won one major title in Europe? Somebody fucked up royally there.

We need a manager who knows what it's like to be a winner, someone for whom failure is not an option. A manager who doesn't stand by reputations, but rather by application. I believe we have that man coming in now in Pep, but oh what a shame he's having to start from such a low base.

This is a great post. I think the criticism the players have been receiving is unfair, it's clear to me that the tone is set by the manager and in the last few months they have been lacking that direction from Pellegrini. Sometimes fans want to see passion and that is severely lacking from Pellegrini.

Let's not forget that there were many bluemoon 'experts' arguing for and lauding that decision at the time, which I think says a lot about some of the experts on here.

We have to focus on trying to secure 4th place and then it's onwards and upwards with the new manager.

Rubbish

Top international players don't need motivating 15 mins from the end of a Champions League Semi-final, we were one goal away from a final, for most of our players potentially the biggest game in their careers.

They failed, why? because they did and don't give a sh1t , that's why.

I am not sure if two very senior execs don't feel the same aswell, I think they were more upset when Barca were beaten by Athletico

Agreed. Being paid millions to carry the hopes and dreams of your fans should be motivation enough. It's the inability and unwillingness of too many in our squad to Man Up that is so frustrating. Thankfully a big bloody broom will soon sweep them away.

You going today mate, I know you were thinking about fucking it off?

I've fucked it off and you know what mate I'm looking forward to a day in the sun than clapping that crap off after the game!

I have people relying on me & they want to go so, I have no choice. They want to stay behind too but the agreement is, we're straight off if we don't win.

I really don't fancy it. If I knew the team would turn up it wouldn't be quite as bad, but I don't trust them & I really don't trust 'him'. It won't be nice to be there at all if they shit out again.

Go and ask a supporter of any other team, who saw the game, if they think a change of tactic might have been an idea at the end.

Go ask any. Even ones who hate us. See what they say.

You know something that really made me angry on Wednesday night? Wio taking the piss out of us in the TV studio " they look like they feel they don't belong in the UCL semi" and you know what....he was right, the ignorant, horrible red bastard was right!

You're right. That is something a leader, either off or on the field should have taken responsibility for. If the manager won't make the obvious change then the players in the form of the captain have to take the initiative.

I don't trust him either, I have this fear he wants to put on one last "show" in his last home game to prove all the doubters wrong about his philosophy. If he leaves us wide open against Arsenal we are going to get shafted.

Christ, imagine what we'd be like I'd we'd had Chelsea's season!

Their were rumours that this happened in the FA Cup run under Mancini, I think it was alleged that Kompany made the team talk.

We need to get a few characters into the squad again. With Vinnie being injured, he hasn't been able to lead from the front. Pablo can't hold a place in the side, Yaya was never a leader, which leaves Joe as the only remaining "captain" type of player, but it is difficult for a goalkeeper. The squad don't seem as together as they used to be, we have a mix of Argentinians and Brazilians who are big rivals on the world stage, and I wonder if the lack of harmony in the squad contributed to Milner leaving.

Interesting. We certainly need to be signing a few leaders in the summer and no more fair weather 'confidence' players.

We have missed an incredible opportunity to dominate English Football over the last 5 years, we have won 2 titles, but the reality is we could and in my opinion should have won 2 more.
This is a huge point. United have declined, it even started before Ferguson left but after he did go it was rubber stamped and the Premier League was wide open for us to takeover. We had everything in place to be the team to takeover. Chelsea were firing managers like there was no tomorrow, Arsene"stubborn"Wenger was still in charge at Arsenal...it was there for us. We couldn't have dreamt for it to be easier for us to takeover. It wasn't like it was 1999 or 2008 when United had their two best teams or 2004 when Arsenal were so good they didn't lose or 2005 when Chelsea were so good they got 95 points...it was wide open for us to take it for ourselves.

However, we signed poorly in 2012 and won nowt in 2013, we signed poorly in 2014 and have gone even further backwards since. We're now struggling to stay in the top four!

What a wasted opportunity!

He is right.

But imo that mentality comes from the manager & spreads down. A manager with a real feel for the game would have ordered a change at the end of that & just demanded the players throw the kitchen sink at it, even if they had been shite upto that point. It was all there to win.

He just watched the game. The team is now in his image. Passive & 'ah well football goes on, we all move on, we did ok, it's not our fault' etc.

Whilst the world has jumped on the Leicester bandwagon and everyone seems to be giving them hearty congratulations and slapping them on the back I just feel angry. Really, really angry. That is my only emotion. Fair play to them and all that but how the fuck are they Champions?
At this moment in time, and I admit this may change dramatically by tomorrow night, I really could kick our lazy, arrogant team all around their plush dressing room. I don't think anybody would deny we have the most talented team so how are we labouring to scrape 4th place and miles behind bloody Leicester?
The answer is because they don't fucking care. They don't want to work. Don't want to run and chase. They don't want it badly enough. They are a team of pampered superstars led by a weak, ineffectual manager. Souness was spot on. They pick and choose when they can be arsed. Sevilla, Kiev, Paris. Yeah we'll make an effort. Sadly those performances are greatly outweighed by lazy, shit displays.
So sorry Leicester I don't feel your joy at all. I'm pissed off and I can only hope those in charge at our club feel the same way.
I've felt like that all season

Totally agree, but if you were lucky enough to be wearing the shirt that night, would you not think sod this let have a go and show the silly old fool how to play the game? and if you did that, you are showing the watching Pep that you have the required fight and passion.

My thoughts on the matter exactly.
