The silent majority will vote remain and so will begin another generation of people who will appear on our screens in 20 years time going but, but, but they told me it was much safer to stay in the eu and we wouldn't end up picking up the pieces for the implosion of the euro because we weren't in it.

I have unfortunately spent the best part of my life working for big private banks and you are being taken for a mug if you don't think the people in this system backing the remain agenda are not doing it for their own financial positions and trust me it's not so that the average guy on the street has a better life.
I think both campaigns are being entirely led by people from the 1% acting in self interest. My vote is self interested in the sense that I will vote in the interests of my values and the regions of the U.K. That I care about most

4m votes says otherwise. It's not their fault they are not in a true democracy.
Yes but we don't have a system that gives any reward for that, they could get 4m votes every time if it comes with 2 seats it is just a very expensive exercise in achieving a poor end result

I don't think anyone will have Schengen soon.

And if the uk pulls out then I think we will be followed by quite a few others and the whole thing will come crumbling down. So it won't be much of an issue.
Have you not considered the short term consequences to the world economy and Europe of a crumbling EU, 2008 would be small time and the suffering would be huge. A break up of the EU could occur without disaster over a period of time in an organised and coordinated way, so it is not inevitably a catastrophe . But If what you say happened a crumbling , a set of dominoes , then you would have some big economies defaulting, some periods of utter chaos both currency wise and trade wise.

Not that many EU economies would recover from the deficits near term -it I suspect even the UK would become Japan as the government would have to write off huge loans, underpin banking, address huge currency issues and prop up the economy. Btw this is not saying Brexit causes this alone but saying if it causes a domino effect that rips apart the EU and the Euro in a panicked way , that it will.

The U.K. Has a 1.7 trillion dollar debt, possibly has another 3,4 or 5 trillion in pension liability of treated correctly, simply put more recession, more bad debt from Europe and a prolonged economic crisis would be hugely damaging.

You prefer glib one liners, little internet feuds and playing to your internet friends, than taking the issue seriously it doesn't do you justice.

If it come crumbling down most of the things in this thread won't be issues of any materiality.

The remaniacs are a lot worse than the outers for bullshit scare tactics.
The vote is scare taxes vs Old Testament optimism. The scare tactics may or may not be bull shit , they may be very real and I guess the same could be said for the land of milk and honey.

It´s good to know that big business, the IMF and the White House have our best interests at heart. First time for everything.

Bottom line, do any of us know how it will affect us. No and neither do the so called experts.
It was a vote winner. we''ll let you decide but woe betide if you vote the wrong way.

I have quoted the same post from previous pages. The cases for remaining in fall on deaf ears.
Tbh mate I think that has much to do with how the remain case is presented, both on here and nationally. Most remainers are pretty condescending, and can't help include lazy stereotypes of brexiters as racist, mail readers, or just plain stupid. Ironically, many of their own views turn out to be formed on nothing more solid than media soundbites and the scare tactics of which we are all now becoming tired (maybe they would enjoy the mail!). I think on the rare occasions a remainer manages to escape the assumption that brexiters are retarded racists, as well as their own fear and negativity there are some compelling reasons to consider not leaving.

Honestly I see the complete opposite remain is a camp that is happy enough with the way things are to not take a tellers risk that at best achieves little and at worst is a disaster.

If I earn 55k a year and am happy with tdT and you offer me a coin toss heads I earn 60k tails I earn 25k why would I take it ?

A gamble with little upside and huge downside isn't about fear in my eyes, it's sanity .

What a daft and blinkered thing to say... Never mind.
It is true though , it's a statement of fact not opinion UKIP got two seats after promising a revolution I happen to think it is wrong and reward should be proportional but the public chose otherwise.

It is fair to say the right of the Tory party have used UKIP to achieve the vote though so in that sense fear of UKIP has changed things.

Why is this happening now?
Because folly in the Middle East , bankers greed and rash spending have crushed the world economy and left people riddled with fear. With fear people search for someone or something to blame and unite against

And your answer to this is to just carry on, brilliant, let's just toe the line and take it up the arse. History is full of people who bucked the trend, you are the type of guy a few thousand years ago who would stay in his nice warm cave because venturing over the hill is a risk, it might be cold there or we might fall off the end of the world. Let's stay here and just moan about it instead.
