I think he will be here still but I'm sure the new coaching team will work on the 'footballing' area of his game. His kicking generally was poor last season, this season it's been a bit better but we generally look pretty uncomfortable playing it around at the back.

People will probably think this is ridiculous given the general opinion of Joe's distribution but isn't there a chance that Joe could perform that sweeper/keeper role if he is given license to do it and absolutely knows that it is his role to have a starting position which is further forward? He has a decent first touch and despite the general wisdom being that he can't pass, I generally think he looks confident on the ball and it is often the options (or lack of) that are available to him that is as big an issue as anything. I think what is expected from him in terms of distribution could be entirely different. I'd be surprised if he is expected to repeatedly play pin point, high balls to Aguero or Sagna under Pep.

We will never win the big one with him

I'd be well pi**ed if Pep thought that goal keeping was an area of the team that needed addressing, every other position needs attention before the keepers.

Henry 'the pundit' evaluated Joe's position very well I remember .he said Joe hart has never been asked to play as sweeper and so he hasn't played .maybe he will adapt to pep's demands and performs great as a sweeper keeper . I feel Joe is needed in the team not only for his on field qualities but also for his leadership . I would want him to get a fair chance .bringing another good keeper as competition is good but if we get a world class keeper like ter stegen and start using him more often , it will be unfair to Joe .

Nochanges needed..in this area...... If willy is leaving... Then a good back up who would challenge a bit more than willy.... Am sure after Kompany, he is the next in line for captaincy as we all think Yaya is leaving

I just wish that Joe would catch the ball more often rather than punching; punching so often invites pressure back onto the team. Outwith that, his position is the least of our problems; we have far more pressing needs elsewhere on the park.

He never used to punch it. Don't you think he was under instruction to punch not catch?

Needs to get his focus sorted more so with our CB situation. I believe if we fix the CB pairing and give them a good system, Hart wouldn't get into as much trouble. Mancini got it right in 2011. I blame CityTV and his goofing about for his loss of focus the year after.

Hart's distribution under Mancini was pretty awful. He invariably lumped it forward with generally poor results.

Under Pellers, Hart didn't seem to be under instruction to just lump it forward every time. Consequently, Hart's distribution went from god awful to way above average.

So yeah.... the punching thing could easily be misguided instruction from the coaching staff.

Yes it's often crossed my mind. I was trying to think back and was sure, like you, that used to catch most stuff and I'm sure his distribution used to be quicker too.

May be a data analysis thing. The bean counters will be able to say that if you miscue a punch there's a 14% chance of the opposition scoring, but if you drop a catch there's a 52.6% chance of the opposition scoring.
