Two of you so far are from the good'ol US of A though which means I can't count your vote I'm afraid..

Joking apart, why? Messi has four more years of being the best player in the world. He's proved himself as being able to play against any team in any league and could bring so much more than Neymar. The only box that Neymar ticks which Messi doesn't isn't longevity - which isn't guaranteed as he could hate the country. His style of play isn't suited to City whilst Messi fits like a glove.
I rate Neymar highly but don't think he's suited for the premier league or us. If you get a chance to sign mMessi you do what you can to make it happen - otherwise you just aren't doing this football lark properly.
And that's why I'll take him over Messi. Resides the fact that he is not the best player in the world also helps. Messi has no where to go but down. Neymar on the other hand has some growing still. I'm going With Neymar. It's not even that hard of a decision I don't think.

Can I just not like the smug little pompous prick? That a good enough reason for ya?

Seriously though .. if I actually had to pull the trigger I'm sure I'd have to take Messi after removing the emotion from the choice. It's the safe and easy choice. I think being the best player in the world for four more years is being liberal with your expectations there. There's other factors involved. You're buying a player who's heart belongs to another club and you're taking him as he's plateauing and reaching decline. Meanwhile the guy you passed up is the biggest threat to his throne. You might get 4-6 years with Messi with the first three pretty equal and the last few dropping off whereas you could have gotten 5-10 years with the majority of them peaking had you chose the Brazilian Twink. There's the marketing as well. Obviously the bookies would have Neymar as the favorite to be the face of the game once CR and LM's times are up.

Messi just makes the right decisions during the game. All. The. Time. It's art. Neymar will give you the flair and the up's and down's. Silly statement I just made but personally I like to live a little dangerously myself. There's legacy factors to add in. Messi obviously is Barcelona through and through whereas Neymar could be to City what Ronaldo was to Real. Neymar does pose a potential risk with the off the field stuff and isn't afraid to raise a stink if it helps him out personally. That would scare off many people right off the bat. You won't be getting that with Messi I'm sure.

So there. I actually just talked myself into switching back to Neymar. I'm going to roll the dice. If you are gonna make that decision you're banking on quite a few 50/50 issues going your way (the flirting with other clubs, will he be a good locker room fit, demanding raises, etc). And for that reason I'm switching my pick back to Messi and taking the easy choice. lol

I'll be happy with either one of them. I feel like the whole world would just be chomping at the bit to shit all of over us at every opportunity once messi arrives. We'll have a tough time living up to the expectations and that's a heck of a lot of stress. The good kind obviously.

Well of course it's not a hard decision for you. You don't appreciate the beauty of the game.

Hell yeah it's an easy decision if you think he's a good teammate and not a fucking diva who might exploit the club. Personally there is that diva attitude that's risky for me.

I can keep it a lot simpler than that mate. I've watched Messi in the flesh on half a dozen occasions and it was a joy. He does things that others can't, picks passes that others can't see and makes space where there was none before. If I could watch him play at the Etihad in a blue shirt on a weekly basis then I could give up the game at the end of his contract a happy man.

If someone had asked Van persie or Griezmann 4 years ago, I bet the answer would have weighed favourably on Van Persie side. But today it will almost seem silly to have taken VP.

Lets bookmark this and revisit in 4 years.

You think Messi is a diva who could exploit the club or Neymar? I'm confused. What you've written could describe the Brazilian but I get the feeling you're not talking about him?

Messi - Lionel Messi. The thing with this lad is you don't do comparisons because nothing compares.

He was talking about Neymar there. Hence why he switched back to Messi.

Perhaps. I guess deep down too, I don't think Messi is a 2 club player. Neymar is. And I like ADg's Ronaldo comparison.

Perhaps it's my appreciation of the game thatvmakesxme pick Neymar :)Messi in a Jersey outside of Barca's is odd. Neymar isn't.

I agree. But I expect him to become more of a leader and less of a Diva.

I understand that point of view Dax I really do. I've dreamt of seeing Messi at the Etihad since he was a 17 year old breaking out.
Football is about putting smiles on faces and with this lad there'd be a danger of my jaw aching through too much.

I'm sorry and it's nothing personal but I think I.b.h is full of a farmer giles's field.....shit... if it comes off than I will retract my statement....

If it isn't for one player then by that standard I could break the world long jump record by combining my best 8 jumps

I think its safe to assume t'Bish is referring to one player

Good point - I was only thinking out loud. I think I'd need three or four long jumps to break the world long jump record...

This is where the transfer forum goes wrong... IBH has not said he's coming. He's said there is an offer.

If they don't accept it, how the fuck IBH the reason they didn't accept it?

The only way IBH can be full of shit is if there is no offer, and sometimes we never find out (although we did with Pogba).

Sorry, rant over, it just bugs me that people don't get that.
