My concern is that negotiations would take place but on EU terms, and so they would not allow the UK to keep "not accepting" - ultimately in a 27 vs 1 situation they could/would impose a settlement and withdraw all their UK links and remove the UK from any legislation.

Your vision of a 27-1 disagreement doesn't recognise how the negotiations will take place.
The reality is it will probably be about a dozen representatives on each team taking months to work their way through the minutiae of the break-up with stumbling points arising on various issues.
I just don't buy the notion that the EU will be overbearing.Altough some strong words are currently being used I think you'll find a much more conciliatory approach will be likely once negotiations begin.
There is a lot of talk of restrictions on Britians access to the EU free market but this is unlikely as it already has free trade with countries as diverse as South Africa and South Korea,and considering we buy about 3 times more than we sell to EU countries it would make little sense from their perspective.
Some senior figures such as Merkel and Obama have already expressed a preference for a orderly and sensible negotiation to take place regarding our exit and this is how I see it panning out.
Sorry if my original message was overly dismissive but I have been surprised by how many people believe we are going to be bundled out of the door like some pissed up gatecrasher at a party.

Word. Gove has now said that he will not be pushed or bullied into triggering Article 50 'until it's right for Britain'. So that's never then Michael?

I think its more likely they've had a massive fall out, possibly over the email sent by Gove's missus, prompting Gove to stand. Gove is just a treacherous bastard. He stabbed Cameron in the back and now he's done Boris. Him and Fox will make Theresa May look like a brilliant candidate and that takes some doing!

Watch Gove claim that in the 'last 4 days' he's decided Johnson isn't competent. Really Michael? just the last 4 days? - whilst he was your perfect partner on the leave campaign.
Then goes on to claim his friends have told him his vision for the UK is the right one - what friends are those Michael, Mr Murdoch and Mr Dacre?
Listen carefully to when he says 'I reluctanctly but FIRMLY concluded I should stand' - like he's been practising it for the last 4 days to emphasise the 'firmly'. I'm surprised he didn't have a PowerPoint presentation behind him.

What a terribly obnoxious and untrustworthy man he is. He's come out victorious (for now) from a nest of vipers - that tells you all you need to know.

Seems a lot of Tory MP's are keen on him. He has good friends in the media! But I suspect he polarises opinion too, which might be his downfall.
The Tory membership only get to choose between two people though, the MPs decide which two.

Yep - and couldn't see why anybody on the doorstep should be sniggering at him - he was 23 at the time. To be fair he denies the accuracy of that story insisting it was a Mercedes

That e-mail last night will haunt him - I expect every suggestion he makes every policy unveiled will result in him being asked is that his idea - or his wife's - or Dacre's - or Murdochs. I think the idea of a leader and PM that is seen as stabbing the peoples champ in the back and being in the pocket of the establishment he railed against in his Leave campaign possibly will rule him out

I really hope so.

I've just watched the full 15 min interview with him (not the short one), and he has a couple of giveaway traits when he's lying. He starts to 'er' and 'um' a lot, but he also fight a slight smirk on the left side of his face. I watched the interview twice and it's as clear as day when you're looking for it.
The interviewer asked how on earth he could decide in the last 4 days that Boris isn't the man, despite having known Boris for decades. The man is a complete back stabbing fraud.
When he's asked about how he'll approach the EU if he's in number 10, his smirk appears again, and you can see he's fighting it. Honestly, it's precisely how my kids used to look when they thought there were going to get a treat - giddy with anticipation and trying not to show it.

In so many ways, it really the likes of Give and Johnson are still in their teens - this is all a jolly good game.

Can you *imagine* how trashed Boris' career would be if he had to go back to the electorate and say he's having to agree to unrestricted free movement of labour?

This is a poisoned chalice for someone - and especially anyone in the leave camp. If a retainer gets the PM job, the leavers will be able to say "you've ****ed it up - we would never have negotiated such a terrible deal". If a leaver is doing the negotiations, then all the can say is "sorry we misled you so badly in the referendum".
