Leonardo Bonucci

Telegraph now running Bonucci interest and possiblity of improved bid as well. Id be amazed if Juve sell, but we'll see

Italian players tend to last a long time when they're playing in Italy. But then so do a lot of other players. He is probably the best defender in the world, but I'd be amazed if we'd be willing to pay over £50m for a player that we'll probably get about 4 years max at the very top level in a league like ours.

If we get 4 years of top notch service then it's money well spent. Wit these centre halfs, buy enough of them we have got to get it right eventually.

Juve might lose the Pogba's of this world but i find it hard to believe they'd lose ay of their Italian contingent unless they were willing to sell. And there's no reason why they'd be willing to sell.

Telegraph saying city will listen to offers for Mangala depending on our own transfer success.

Regardless of his age, it'd be an amazing signing if we got him. Arguably the best centre half in Europe.

The fact that this story has suddenly appeared makes me curious about the talk of one of our big stars going to China. I've been thinking that it could be Nasri for some reason (especially after yaya supposedly rulled out a move) but could it be Vinny?

His post isn't ridiculous at all, he personally thinks Bonnuci is better even if both are fit - which is an opinion most non city fans would share

And then he makes a second point that as much as he Kompany is a legend he can't be relied on to stay fit and in the XI every week -
Something that everyone should be accepting by now.

Exactly.

I have banged the drum on here and twitter about wanting Bonucci. World Class, leader, plays Peps way, captain material and would slot straight in.

Kompany is now Ledley King mk2

I'm sure Juve won't want to lose Bonucci but you would like to think City have been given encouragement from the player, or his agent for us to put a bid in. City do things very differently these days to compared to the Kaka fiasco, it'll be interesting to see if we go back with an increased bid and just how much we would be prepared to spend on this one.

From Bonucci's perspective, at 29 it's probably make or break for him to try a new league whilst he's at the peak of his powers. If he is keen on doing that, now is as good a time as any. If he leaves it a few years then decides to make the move he may not do himself justice.

What a ridiculous post - you start with the "fit" comparison and then say can't be relied upon, lol.

Fit Kompany is right up there with Bonucci as the best central defenders in the world.
kompany may be fit, but at this stage he cant stay fit, hes proven that. also staying fit has something to do with being the best at your position, so in my opinion, bonucci is on another level

This is what I am thinking also, surely we wouldn't just bid Ed Woodward style without speaking to the player first. Also to note that City haven't denied this through local journos, they were quick to do that when Aubameyang interest broke.

If anything the journals all sound like they are being briefed all saying we are considering going in with another offer. Either being told that by city or Bonucci's agent.

That's a good point about the lack of denial from City, as you said they denied the Aubameyang links almost straight away.

If it happens it may be our most significant signing of the summer & I for one feel a fit Gundogan will take the Premier League by storm.

I don't think Bonnuci is the best centerback in the world. Don't think he is even in the top 5. I'd be hard pressed to put him in the top 10. Not so sure everyone will agree he is the best CB at Juve ( even if I do).

But frankly, he is one of if not the absolute best ball possesion defender in the world. And thus the best fit for a Pep team. He is what I believe John Stones will be in 3-4 years.

I like the link, so long as it's not an 'instead of Stones' deal. Fantastic possession footballer. Great brain and passing tree. Stones wil eventually mirror him and become just as good.

That many here who are in love with this link yet vehemently opposed to the Stones interest is quite amusing :)

Have you seen Juve and Italy defend? Have you seen Everton? And you wonder why people think Bonucci is less of a risk?

I'm hoping Stones' defensive issues are a lot down to Martinez and Pep will be able to teach him to defend in a team which can defend properly. But to suggest Bonucci isn't up there with the current best is nonsense.
