Toni Kroos

Thanks ;)
Seems a strange thing to do to a much coverted coach after his first season?
I think this is how Bayern Munich works. The board (Rummenigge, Hoeness et al) decide who they buy and sell, the coach is .. well a coach, not a manager in the english sense. They will consult with their coach off course, but the decision is theirs. I think this was also one important reason why Pep left Bayern. He wants more control, and I presume he will have that with City.
Kroos was never completely appreciated by the board, so they did not want to pay him at the level of their other stars, so he left.

Ah, that would explain it (sort of), I wonder why a new contract wasn't forthcoming from Bayern?

Bayerns board bet on Götze being the poster boy of German football and so they gave him a huge salary when they tempted him away from Dortmund - €7m per year.

Kroos felt that he deserved the same amount given he was both a better player and a loyal Bayern player who'd put in 7 years at the club. But instead they offered him something like €5.5 or €6m and he decided to take up Real Madrids offer of €11m instead.

Guardiola was apparently pretty furious, especially as he never asked for Götze in the first place.

Real Madrid would be absolutely crazy - I'm talking writing poems on the wall with shit levels of lunacy - to let him go.

I'm only hoping and praying we can swoop if they are that bonkers.

Why would Madrid let him go. I genuinely think he is the best CM in the world at the moment. Just can't see it. Pogba not in the same league.

It didn't stop them selling Robben, Snjinder and countless others!

I thought he was excellent V us in the home leg and was one of the main reasons they dominated possession, along with Modric. If he's interested and they are willing to sell its a no-brainier

Kroos would have our midfield purring like a cat.
Imagine the passes into kdb , sane and kun
If we somehow managed to get him I'd be convinced we would have the league sown up by April

We really need to sign Kroos. Excellent age, world-class, a German international, a position I still feel we need strengthening and a huge name ;).

What worries me greatly about the rumours aside from Kroos are the crazy continued quoted fees for John Stones and Leroy Sane who may or may not be first team regulars next season for £80-£100M? We could really do with the first 11 being strengthened with guaranteed now players. Griezmann, Bonucci etc if true seem like much safer options for similar prices? I guess time will tell whether our transfer business this Summer is seen as good in the short term as it may in the long term.

The Kroos love is strange. It seems everyone has turned a blind eye to his laziness on defense. I guess in a way, he'd be Yaya without the goals. Slightly better possession, slightly worse goalscoring. About the same defensive effort. Little!

I was thinking similar myself for the first 20 minutes or so tonight, but in all honesty since then he's produced such a masterclass of accurate, intelligent passing, I'd be inclined to overlook anything else. Can't see Madrid letting a player like that leave though

Alongside Fern and Gundogan i think the workrate/skill set ratio will be superb.
