The money is completely irrelevant. If he makes their squad stronger then it will be money they’ve spent wisely. If he is a truly world-class player, and there are plenty of non-United voices (inlcuding City fans) who rate him as such, nobody will bat an eyelid at how much they paid. If the upper echelons at City thought he’d be a pivotal part in getting us back to the top, but then baulked at the price, I’d say we’ll repent at leisure if he then becomes a pivotal part of any future success for Unitd. £8m Fabian Delphs ain’t going to cut the title-winning mustard. But hey, we can still revel in te fact he was a bona fide bargain. The amount of revisionism going on here from us is laughable. He’s a very, very, very good player.
