You don't have 11 players nowadays mate. Where will Nacho play for us?
To think Rooney will not play for the Rags is not the same as Nacho not playing for us. Rooney is on 300K a week and has captained them for a few years now. Even Mourinho said he can imagne Rooney behind the striker. Pogba isn't creative enough or effective enough with goals to play in a position where I am sure even Mata would be more effective.

As one of the 3? So they would have the Armenian, Pogba, Martial, Mata, Herrera and Rooney competing for those 3 places with Big nose, Rashford and Martial who can operate as the 1.

If required he could play in the two although not as affective.
Martial is nailed on for the left wing place mate, its where he played last year and for France and where is more effective. Its between Rashford and Ibra for the striker spot. Also Herrera can't play as one of the 3 either, nor can Pogba. You think they would bench one of Ibra and Martial every game?

Pogba would be ideally suited to one of the three.

Well he has never really played there has he? Juventus played a 3-5-2 so there wasn't a AM position in the formation and he was always on the right side of the midfielders. For France it was a 4-3-3 with Giroud, Greizmann and Payet as the front 3. Pogba is ideally suited for a position behind the attacking players. He is most effective in a 3-5-2 with no particularly defined role.

The Rags don't need him, that's the point and has been my opinion all along.

I still think they'll end up with Matuidi, that's the Mourinho type player they're lacking and need, not Pogba.

A question for you Marvin, "if" they sign him where do you think Mourinho would play him in his nailed on 4-2-3-1 system?
Between the 2 and the 3

I have to ask, sorry...

Why is this still in the City transfer forum and not the general football thread?

We long since distanced ourselves from the table.

The very mention of debating the filth and their continued delusions of grandeur, makes me want to take a bath in bleach.

What a signing and huge statement of intent. If they do get top 4 next season which will happen with the eye gouger in charge,it will enable them to attract more world class players just as Yaya's signing did for us. Not interested in the cost,it's completely irrelevant.

Dangerous - I asked that weeks ago and got a kicking off the mods as it's 'transfer related'. I only pop into it in the hope there's quotes from him snubbing the rags

I've been thinking this for a while too, but 4-3-3 isn't beyond the realms of possibility for United next season - even with Mourinho in charge.

De Gea
Darmian - Smalling - Bailly - Shaw
Schneiderlin - Blind
Pogba
Mkhitaryan - Zlatan - Martial

Pogba could easily take Rooney's place in the side and basically play the free attacking role, which is his best position imo.

It's not that we didn't push hard enough for him. Pep didn't want him at all.

Exactly...he hasn't chosen United, because there was no choice. The club and Pep decided not to pursue him because he ain't a £100m player. Real dropped out out as well

That left him with a desperate club willing to pay £10m+ in wages and a totally over the top transfer fee. I just laugh at them now, especially when they try and call any other club as having mercenaries

Lol hope that is the team when we play them.
We would tear that midfield a and defence a new one.

But if it get's us Toni Kroos and keeps the fee sky high it's been worthwhile!

I suppose that would be an upgrade, benching someone that's on 280k a week with someone who'll be on 300k?

BREAKING NEWS... Open Sky sources are saying that the Pogba deal may be off due to the new League rules that come into force on 1st August. New players from that date will now have to wear squad numbers that clearly show in millions the total amount spent on their transfer including fee, bonuses and wages for the duration of their contract. Another source close to the captain is quoted as saying "Our Wayne won't have an ex-employee coming in and wearing a shirt that clearly shows that Our Wayne isn't the highest paid player there anymore". Apparently Their Ed has tried to resolve the situation but can't as the captain insists on having a 10 in his number and he has been told by a 3 yr old fan that that Pogba's new shirt will be a bigger number even if he puts a 2 in front of it. Leaked pictures from the backroom store seem to confirm the reporting and appear to leave the new managers transfer plans in tatters !! This is thought to be a REAL opportunity for a club from another league where the new rules won't apply to step in.
