I did not see Hart adapting to Peps system against Arsenal.

Neither did Caballero against Dortmund. Atleast 3-4 times he passed straight to opposition forwards in pre-season and the Sunderland match. Caballero (no better than Hart) is staying but a club legend and England No.1 is leaving. It's hard to take that when he hasn't been given enough opportunity and time to adapt.

But Caballero did v Arsenal, Joe did not.
I would prefer Joe to stay and learn under Pep, he will be a better player for it. I do not see that happening.

So if Joes style is wrong and his attitude is bad there's still no justifying him being dropped?
That sounds like exactly the kind of justification normally used in cases like this.

No, he hasn't had a chance, so it's unjustified. Caballero isn't in the same league as Hart, so when someone better comes along, drop him then.

I was hoping this was maybe Pep testing Joe's reaction to being dropped, giving him a wake up call, but you have to say it looks increasingly like the end for him. Really ruthless and harsh imo.

Not for Joey's ego.

Maybe, but that's a given in any case. All top teams in the PL have good goal keepers. Even at Everton he will have competition and is a also a step-down for him without European football. Joe loves the club. So, I assume he would try and fight for his place against Bravo rather than jump ship to mid-table teams in the PL.

Because Willy is willing to try and do as he is instructed.

I'm not sure how many more times this can be explained in this thread.

Pep doesn't mind players making mistakes if following his orders, he won't put up with players ignoring instruction. No matter who they are or how important they think they are.

Been to many training sessions have you?

Will be gutted if Joe goes. For me, he optimizes Manchester City - he gets us, get's the fans and I think he's one of the only players who has genuine feelings for the club. Good, bad or ugly he's also the first player over applauding away fans after the game. And on top of this, he's actually an outstanding goalkeeper - yes, he has his flaws and yes he makes errors but for us blues, that watch him week in week out, we know how good he is and at the age of 29, i think he'll only get better. That being said, we have to trust Pep and his philosophy, if he thinks Joe can't do what he needs to be successful then I'm (reluctantly) happy with that. If he thinks we need Bravo to play the way he wants to win, I'm happy with that as well. It'll hurt seeing Joe in another clubs shirt but MCFC is bigger than any one player. One thing I will say is it's now our time to play hard ball. If Everton want him, we tell them he's £40-£50mil and we don't budge - I'm sick of clubs taking the piss out of us when we want their players so let's turn it on it's head.

Youve no idea what's gone on behind the scenes. You keep going on about Caballero not being in the same league as Joe but you're basing that on the role of a traditional goalkeeper. Of course Hart is better. That doesn't make him automatically the right choice. There's several factors to be considered and as things stand being a better keeper on paper doesn't cut it.
Ruthless I agree, harsh, not so much.

Exactly

Willies total summation here would be "Saved a few penalties", he is not within a country mile of Hart an never will be.
Hart has won us games galore because he made saves bordering on world class on a regular basis, Pep needs to have a f*cking word with himself.

How do you know he hasn't had a chance? How do you know Pep and Joe haven't had chat about things, have you been to private training sessions?

Managers have preferences for certain players, those they're not keen on get sold. It's no different to say Mangala getting the boot or Bony or anyone else. This is a big decision granted, but managers are paid to make big decisions and given our manager's track record I am more than happy to back him in this. I honestly don't understand the tears overs this.

I don't think Willy was picked ahead of Joe because he is any better than him or is able to implement Pep's style either.

I think it was to make his intent clear that he doesn't want Joe as Number 1

Oh don't talk sense young man, you'll spoil all that pretentious/know it all guff from SWP and Pablo1 about not following instructions etc etc etc

Aww, bless.
You say pretentious guff when all it is is an opinion based on what I've seen Peps team do in the past. I've always been respectful to Hart and have made it clear I'd love to see him stay several times.
The fact is this is a crowd favourite who from the outside it looks like he's being treated harshly. We don't know the ins and outs so have to guess at what's happening. I saw the writing on the wall as did several others and it looks like coming true. I'm not happy that Hart looks like he could be moving on, I appreciate everything he's done for us. I'm a City fan first and foremost though and if a manager who we've been courting for 6 years feels it can't work then I'm going to go with his opinion.
The only thing pretentious or guff is that post you've just written.

I've said this many times but winning the Golden Glove really isn't particularly something a goalkeeper should be given that much praise for. Unlike assists and goalscoring where the players have to physically pass or shoot themselves to get the assist or goal, a 'keeper doesn't have to make a save to keep a clean sheet.

I honestly think it's just a token gesture to give 'keepers some recognition.

You keep clean sheets as a team. Or you get a bit of fortune through poor finishing by the opposition.

In saying that I actually want Joe to stay and learn and improve!
