I agree completely, and on a personal level, if I was in his shoes I'd have done the same. He will be able to relax and enjoy his football.

My earlier posts were more in the vein of if he wanted to go down the "I'll show them they were wrong" route.
 
Goalkeeping has never been my area & I'm always happy to bow to people who know what they are talking about re the tecnical details (not those who just post shit which isn't true). I 100% understand the passing thing & recon he's shite at it, but the keeping is not my thing.

But reading up on various discussions in the media regarding Joe, there is a question mark over him as an actual keeper according to some who do coach that kind of thing.

I also didn't realise that in spite of his 'Golden Glove' record, in most seasons, he's close to the bottom of the pile, when it comes to saving shots from outside the box. The piece Sky did on it is quite revealing. There is a suggestion of a problem on his left side, which is backed up by some of his goals conceded & also a suggestion that he is out of position quite a lot, thus making finishes easier.

Not my area, but when I've looked at it & compared his movement to others, it does look like there might be something in it.

I now agree with some who think it's not just his kicking which is behind this (although that is shite).

Just read that sky piece surprised he's ranked 16/20 on long shots % and has always been towards the bottom.
Maybe we have confused passion for goal keeping ability, and we forget he's played behind a top 4 defence for a lot of his career

Great picture, should get one in our ground going. On a side note some Torino Italians were sat next to use for a game. I cant remember what year but Pearce was manager and ive tried blanking that era out. They loved us though. Obviously our club has changed a fair bit since then but would be nice to remember such relationships with clubs like Torino.
 
Maybe he'll get a chance to see the (in)famous Shroud of Turin while he's over there … 'cos, that's where that is … oh, wait, that's what ye were … ah, forget it.
 
Might be worth a separate thread when the move is confirmed in my opinion. Tonight is going to be sad.
