Pep's Press Conferences - Watford (A) Post Match (Page 129)

I think they are as in awe of him as we are. They probably seek his approval. They've seen him exclaim "what the fuck?" when asked a shit question, so now they almost want to impress him with their questions. Pep is dominating them. It's hilarious. They were all scared to ask follow up questions about the Yaya situation until there was only one English question left.
I think they think we'll be banned if we stepped out of line lol

I'm happy the coughing has subsided a bit. I was getting a little worried about that for a few weeks

Still got a horrible feeling Im going to wake up planning a trip to adams park or bootham crescent at the weekend.......just how lucky are we to have the best coach in the world ?!

Doesn't sound good to me, an irritating cough for a few weeks ? He looks shattered after his day off. The Sheik should offer him his food taster (tester) you never know !!
He coughed a lot less today. So hopefully he is getting over whatever it was that was ailing him.

Guys please stop dissing our previous managers. And MP of all ppl. He is a very good coach, who has the balls to play attacking football. He did many good things for us. We played some fantastic football, maybe not consistently at a high level. But the bad results dont automatically fall entirely at the coach's feet. Many players had become too big personalities. So they have to take a fair share of the blame too.

In any case, MP is a above average coach. Pep rates him highly. Spain rates him highly. South America rates him highly. However u like to spin it, you cannot bring a club like Villareal with its measly budget & small fan-base to the semi-finals of the Champions League. And he is a classy man. In spain, its a cultural thing to never ever question the coach. So the coach doesnt hv to be the biggest personality in the dressing room. He is respected for his tactical & coaching decisions. Only in England, the players are bigged up to be more powerful than heads of state. And leadership is overhyped in english football. Cant blame MP totally if he expected the same professional behavior from players that he saw in Spain.
Respect.

“I know it’s going to happen that we are not going to win at some point and I know what’s going to happen to me, to our club, my players, the team when we don’t win," he said.

“I am joking but maybe we need one defeat as soon as possible to make things calm down.”

Interesting comments from Pep. Maybe even he's as surprised at we are about the way we've started. There may even be a dig about our media in those quotes.

I took it as he knows what the media will say when we lose a game,he has done his homework on them for sure

Wow, so Kompany......... They think they know what has been causing things over the last two years and now might have fixed it? Excellent news.

So looking fw to Brahim too, I do think we are going to go full for the win tonight, excellent way to blood the younger players.

My money is on MP rushing him back early? We've proven that our defence works well whilst he's fully recovering and he will have to fight for his place. I'm guessing with VK's character traits he will love that kind of competition.

With Kompany I think they'e done the scans, the tests and the works to see which movement(s) will aggravate the injury. And from there Pep has assessed how to utilise Kompany in terms of his movement, positional play, tackles and be specific about what not to do. Damage control but instead of being hostage to the injury, he approaches his movements differently.
