Slight criticism in what has been an outstanding start to the season. But KDB should have been rested during midweek IMO. KDB, Fernandinho and Aguero are 3 real key players for us and all irreplaceable to some extent in that nobody else like them in the squad.

I'm not worried. I thought it was a bit crowded with him and Silva in the same team to be honest. It will allow Silva to play centrally which is by far his best position and from where he can dominate games on his own. Both Silva and KDB can do a job out wide, but both of them are wasted there imho.

Obviously will be a big miss but we have solid strength in depth in his position right now so we should cope.

Play Gundogan and Silva in midfield together like Gundogan and Kev did vs BM...Or could even move Dinho forward and bring Fernando into dm...Options options options.

Big blow. He's been the one finding the space and making the difference when teams are closing us down quickly and making it hard to break down initially. Him and Nolito out for Sunday leaves us a bit light and a bit more predictable in how we'll play. Fortunately, it's not the disaster it was last season when he was missing, he's key to us but he's not completely irreplaceable. Fernandinho is the only one that is.

What a bummer, just as he was playing so well in the last few weeks. I hope he doesn't turn out to be as injury prone as Kun or Silva..Kun has been better in this regard towards the end of last season though..

should never have played during league cup match...should have been given complete rest. You cant play these guys 2 x a week. Ridiculous, another non contact injury because they are over played !

Two assists, the second of which is being hugely underrated, worth watching again if people can find the video - 2-1 down they're about to get a shot off from 8 yards out, he tracks all the way back & clears it for a corner, we clear the corner to their midfielder, then it's him again charging in closing the guy down, wins us the ball for the counter, feeds Sterling who does the rest - 3 key actions that stopped us going 2-2, turned into 3-1 us, class. That's why he's special, even when he's having a poor game he is important.
Well said .....blueMedic

He had extended leave after the euro's and has had little pre-season and has had to play himself fit hence his slowish start.you could argue pep should rest them all in turn but that is not at all practical

I'd credit Silva with winning the ball after the corner but yep, huge contribution yesterday from him on a bad day.
How come? It was De Bruyne. Silva casually jogs out the box, De Bruyne sprints out full pelt closes the guy down, blocks his rushed pass & starts the counter followed by passing it to Sterling for the assist.

Love Silva, but think you're being overly generous to him there :-P

Ah well,

Always nice to give the rags some false hope before we twat them again.

:)

How are people making two assists out of interest? Going down for the penalty doesn't count as an assist does it?
It does usually, hence why Sterling has the 4 goals 5 assists in 8 games stat, couple penalties in there I believe.

At worst it counts as an assist for the all important fantasy football games..

Will be a test of gundogans fitness over the next few games , hopefully he doesn't get called up for Germany

Him and silva might have to play four in a row after the international break , having played both games before it

Pity Garcia isn't in the CL squad

Didn't expect him to be out for 4 weeks, big run of games coming up too. I don't doubt we've got the talent in the squad to still win tough games, it just puts a lot of pressure on Gundogan and Silva to stay fit.

You need to go watch the goal again and see who intercepts the ball and passes it to KDB :)

Shit.
Is it me?
Other teams seem to have players stretchered off with their legs strapped together whilst receiving oxygen and they're back it in two weeks.
We have players who walk off after injury seemingly as a precaution, only to find out later that they're out for minimum four to six weeks!
Fcuk off.
Rant over.
