Spurs vs City post match

Zaba is past it, and i still can't believe Pep would block his move. Kolarov is just a mentally weak player built on a fragile skillset that has nearly always gone missing against teams that press. I'd rather throw Maffeo and Angelino in the deep end, because there's a chance they'll turn out good. Fernando should just be downgraded to water carrier, he offers absolutely nothing.

Ok so against a decent team Zaba and Kolarov are clearly nowhere near good enough. Same goes for Fernando. They were far better than us in all departments. The Pep honeymoon is over and there is a huge amount of work to be done. Trying to be positive but a lot of the negatives visible last season are still present. I expect us to finish 4th again this season.

Poor performance. Wrong team selection. Too many second tier players not good enough. Got bullied off the ball and couldn't remotely cope with the high press and intensity. Fullbacks not being strengthened in the summer may come back to haunt us, Sagna and Clichy should have been in today. Otta reverts to his diving in. Stones was head and shoulders above the rest. We still need a real defensive midfield monster for games like this. Couldn't hold onto the ball, couldn't pass it, couldn't get it to the front players fast enough and when we did get chances we fluffed them. If Silva scores right at the start it's a different game, still not sure how he misses a tap in from 2 yards.

We knew there was a lot of work still to be done on this team, especially defensively, it's just been masked by the excellent start to the season.

Onto the next game though, looking at fixtures the next really really tough game is Liverpool away and it's near 3 months off. Everton, Arsenal and Chelsea are all home games and I'd expect us to win them. Hopefully we'll have learnt how to play against this style of pressing by the time we get round to Dippers away.

Oh and Rose is a dirty c**t.

Fernando is up there with the worst buys.

His first touch, passing and awareness are terrible.

There's a huge drop off in the quality of our squad in midfield.

On a positive note, we are still top and now Pep has witnesses our pretenders and knows exactly who needs to go.

Could have been worse - at least we didn't draw at home to stoke who are second bottom

Pep's been talking about losing all week. Pochettino has had Spurs for a couple of seasons now and knows how to get the best out of his players.

We're 7 games into a 3 year tenure. Rome wasn't built in a day (or 7 games at least)

Worst performance by a long way, didn't deserve anything. Big changes needed in defence. Great that he saved the penalty, but why does bravo take 3 touches when 1 or 2 would do? Just invites pressure.
End of the day we're still top, hopefully lessons are learned and we come again stronger

Back to last season the last 3 games, some big changes need to be made and not just the obvious, I'd drop players that fall over and move them on, or not play them until they become men.halfway through the Swansea game I realised it was just the Pep hype and a massive rebuild needs doing.

Majority of the team were the same as last season or even longer, how could we have realistically expected any other result with the players on the field. So so upset.

The match thread was unbelievable. I didn't know Bluemoon has so many alarmists onboard. It's perfectly normal to lose to Spurs away, we're only in the beginning of a long, long way. It will take at least 2 transfer windows and 2-3 yrs of training to make a real 'Pep team'. We're on top now, perfect start of the season! This loss will help Pep to address some most urgent issues, so no reason to panic.

ah come on! yes they were cheating but they were up and all players do that shit anyway... today the better team won both on the press and their defense... we go back to the drawing board and wait for them at home...
I didn't say they weren't the better team but it's hard to analyse objectively when one team can push, pull, feign injury, push Bravo in to the net to try to score a duplicitous goal. Not sure why Rose wasn't sent off after diving and kicking the ball away but maybe I'm missing something obvious?

To have Navas out on the left for even one second is bewildering to me. Sane needs more gametime.

Incredible performance from Spurs, they were dominant throughout and looked comfortable defending in the last 20 minutes; they were excellent in the way they pressed us and also played with a much better tempo than we did

Onto our negatives, zaba and kolarov are obviously not good enough to fit into pep's system; really poor defensive display from them which cost us dearly.
Fernando was also not good enough and when ilkay gundogan came on the game balanced out a lot; Fernando doesn't really offer too much in attack and not enough defensive tenacity, think this will be his last season with us probably.
Again credit to Spurs, they were magnificent

Top of the league. Toughest away game out of the way. Stones is quality. Those are the positives.
Negatives today come down to Spurs having more an energy, more composure, more of a game plan and finished their chances.
From our point of view nothing new. Our full backs are too old and slow to start that game. There's plenty of times I'd start them but not today. Fernando struggles when given responsibility and our go to guy Fernandinho had an awful first 45. With those two struggling there was a knock on effect with Silva not being able to get into the game which meant Sergio was starved of service (first half) and Sterling looking lost.
Too many players haven't got the required tank to contain a hard, high press and it results in mistakes, heads going down and overall complacency.
That said we had the better of the chances second half and could have scored three. It wasn't our day today and as much as I laud Pep, it was his initial selection that put us in this situation.

I thought Bravo once again came in for some uneccessary stick, could do nothing for the goals and made two great saves. He'll keep playing it out as long as defenders keep fucking passing it to him. It's time they took some responsibility instead of putting him under pressure every 5 minutes.
I'm sure there will be loads of soppy twats going way overboard so I'm calling it a night.

Fernandinho was awful at times v Celtic. He is having too much work to do imo. The midweek game required a lot of hard work due to us fucking that up.

But if we had defended properly today, we would get at least a point.

Kolarov better at CB than lb
Zabaleta too slow
Fernando no good

Stones our best player

Still top and future still bright

Pep is not blind and will see the issues

Only if Zaba, Kolarov and Fernando are missing against everton will I believe that Pep's eyesight is adequate (injuries permitting)

Best team won. We were dross until last 15 mins.

Zabaleta wank
Kolorov even worse
Navas wank
Fernando wank.

The rest average.

Not replacing the full backs once again is going to cost us. None of them are good enough for this level any more never mind europe.

I didn't think I'd be saying this but their 11 wanted it SO MUCH MORE than our 11.

No suprise the way Spuds played but apart from two 10 minute spells in each half we were a good second best. Zabba,Otter,Koloa Fern2 cant think or act under pressure. Only Juliet & Stones performed upto the right level.

Spuds outCityed us. Well done to them. !!

Drama queen. There is 0 reasoning behind thinking we arn't better than last season.
