Spurs vs City post match

Now I am lost...what is your problem

I haven't slagged off pep...even he said he would have done things differently looking back so Im not sure why people are jumping on what was said. Like i said i want to discuss football and I can deal with differing opinions and people that don't agree...but I just don't get people who want to have a go at others for their opinions....I wonder what that says about them?
Anyone would think this is a discussion forum?

Yup i thought so to.

Pep for me is a genius but even he has said he gets things wrong ..he got it wrong the other day. I cant wait to see how he replies to be honest, cause Im intrigued to see how he and we respond as a team and what he will do...the loss may really help him in the long run to see what is needed

give what a rest..oh you mean an opinion that might differ from yours....no thanks ill continue.

In no way am i criticising Pep...for me the guy is awesome and I don't care where we finish, I hope he stays for life regardless of what happens. But we are here to discuss football and tactics/opinions so if you cant handle that then fair enough but you are in the wrong place Im afraid.

You come across like you're on the verge of a mental breakdown after we've lost 1 game in 12. We all know it's a process and that we'll lose games along the way, so just enjoy it and chill.

I don't think he got it wrong at all, I think we met a Tottenham team up for it and on the front foot from the off and maybe the last couple of weeks caught up with us. Like you said it'll be interesting to see the response because let's face it pep has been talking about defeat all week. I'm glad in a way the monkey on our back of going undefeated has gone now as it was imo interfering and was a slight distraction. Gracious in defeat and Gracious in victory, we got the golden ticket with pep. And what's happened in these first 11 games is just the tip of the iceberg.

Maybe pep was trying to prove a point or finally show to the top brass what we need or what Pep needs carnt see him doing the same against Liverpool n arsenal who I think are the other two away games we will get beat
I have come round to thinking this way today.
I just find it extremely difficult to believe that Pep would have thought anything good would happen from the team he selected on Sunday.

he said he did and would do things differently. I also think you are onto something though with what pep has been saying...i think he knows our weaknesses and which type of teams would cause us huge problems and expose those

Ha

Ok...Im just describing what i saw. nothing mental about it or didnt you get the bit where I also replied that i think and would love pep to be here for as long as possible. I was just going into detail explanation about what I saw nothing more. Some people are extraordinarily sensitive at times so Im not sure Im the one that needs to chill

Hello.

Lurked on the forums for a while before finally signing up. Couldn't class myself as a City fan although I've always had a soft spot for the club and with Pep on board have a real interest in seeing how things go. Think my affinity for the club stems from having an inherent dislike for Man Utd, even at a very young age before I properly got into football. Can't really explain why but knew my instincts were right as I followed football more and became a season ticket holder at my local club.

As a supporter of a small, provincial team I for some reason always hoped City fans would be able to get one over a group of arrogant twats who had lorded it over them year upon year. And now it's happening.

Anyway, reading through the Spurs match day and post match threads I found some of the knicker wetting quite incredible. I don't imagine for a second that it was representative of the City support generally but it was a bit of an eye opener how folk can be on the verge of a meltdown after 10 wins, a draw and a loss.

Speaking slightly impartially, I felt at the start of the season City would probably win the league but a lot would depend on the initial couple of months and how long it took Guardiola and the players to get on the same wavelength. I'm pretty certain now you'll win the league, despite yesterday's game.

I think it's easy to forget how emotionally draining the match against Celtic was. Yes, the players are professional and have to deal with these situations but they are still human and we are talking about small percentages making all the difference at the highest level. Adding in the extra day recovery for Spurs and the fact they were playing at home had a big impact in Spurs starting the game with more intensity than City, there's no denying that. This put the team on the back foot and then Kolarov's error just helped give Spurs even more momentum and they played very well that first half.

Yes, there are some issues for the team, particularly full back areas and requirement for another CB, however it's hard to imagine Pep won't address those in the transfer market sooner rather than later. And for some to say that teams simply need to press high against City to get success is overly simplistic. Come on, this is Guardiola, one of the main proponents of playing a high pressing style, he more than anyone will know what his team needs to do against it. As the players train more with him and become more comfortable in the systems he plays, teams will have less and less success trying to pressure City that way, especially once he has all the players in place that he wants.

Despite having very good players, City did have an ageing squad that was in quite a bit of need of an overhaul. It's begun now but can't happen in just one summer. In the meantime, your first eleven is definitely good enough to win the Prem and you should just enjoy what's coming, it'll be brilliant.

And Danny Rose is an utter cockend.

Thanks for posting , agree with much of what you say, but I would be surprised if we do much in the transfer market in January, usually a difficult time to buy and you often end up overpaying for stop gap solutions. Wilfred Bony being our most recent example.
I think improvements to our defensive personnel will come from within the club either Vinny regaining fitness, youth promotion or redefining another players position. At the moment I am not strongly anticipating any of these though I would love it if Vinny does get fit which is possible.

I think winning the title is certainly possible but fear that injuries over a long season and lack of real quality in the defense may hamper us over the season.

Spurs were very good yesterday and I don't think we will meet to many teams better than that this season , I have seen non defensively better and we still created some chances though it has to be said Spurs deserved the result on the balance of the game.

Cant be bothered setting up a new thread. Went to game yesterday but just decided to watch highlights from yesterday on City TV. Why cant we have a manc city fans doing the commentary instead of some weird sounding guy with a slightly scouse / welsh accent. We had better chances than I remember / could see from the back of the upper tier.

I agree with you when you say Tottenham were up for it, but I disagree with you when it comes to the selection, Fernando and Navas don't belong in the starting eleven, in my opinion.

When I first saw the starting lineup I knew we were in for a tough game. Sane in place of Navas and Gundogan in place of Fernando with Fernandinho anchoring the defense seems much, much better. But were Gundogan and Sane fit enough to play for a full 90 in such a high intensity game? Probably not - otherwise I can't figure out why they didn't start.

Perhaps Garcia in place of Fernando then, if Gundogan/Sane weren't fully fit.

But Pep is the world's best manager IMO. There's a good reason for that specific starting 11 even if it seems slightly off.

Just read a statistic in the Mail that said we have only won 39% of games when the two Ferns play together, and won 73% when they don't, interesting :-)
I understand why Pep chose to play both Ferns, Zabs & Kolorov away against a younger quicker Spurs side, but the same failings we had last season were cruelly exposed on Sunday.

The big question is if Pep were allowed to play this game again would he select the same team? I for one don't think he would. I didn't disagree with Pep's starting line up because we've been brilliant this season in the main irrespective of which team he's selected, but if this were Pellegrini last season he would have been roasted as being utterly clueless.

However this is Pep's first defeat as our manager and I always think you learn more from a defeat than you do with a victory & as opposed to Pellegrini, Pep looks like a man who will learn from his defeats and do something about it. Most of us were surprised to see both Kolarov & Zabs still here after the transfer window closed & expected two younger full back to be drafted in to challenge/replace Clichy & Sagna which didn't happen. I think if anything, Sunday will have shown the limitations of Zabs & Kolarov and that in future we should try to utilise our skill & rely less on brute force just as Pep did at Barca.

Sunday hopefully provided many of the answers and was the lesson we all needed to learn. In Pep I trust.......

Obviously I was euphoric about the win and how we controlled the game, which the majority of you have mentioned.
Whilst a few have mentioned, that you were missing DeBruyne, we were without Kane and Dembele ( a few others have mentioned your busy travel , Swansea, Celtic, Tottenham ( Approx 216, 222,190 miles) Spurs last 3 games Boro, Moscow and home ( 249 miles , 1799 miles), so it's hardly a worry in comparison .
I've only rewatched the highlights, as forgot to tape the whole game, but whilst at the game, I thought the officials were totally biased in your favour, how many times was Rose taken out, but none were shown on the highlights,so I can't elaborate on them. the biggest decision the Lino got wrong though was Son being flagged for offside, at best he was level with Stones when he received the ball, not when it was played , at worst he was still in his own half when Alli released the ball, anyway thankfully it didn't matter
Over the recent years, we've been subject to some shocking results against City, often in part to shocking referring decisions, Balotellis stamp, and twice we got early reds and penalties against us, and both reds were rescinded, so it was nice to get a win, without any major decisions affecting the result .
Anyway it's going to be a good exciting season, and I reckon we've got the strongest squad in years, so we've got a chance

You are taking the piss surely?

Danny Rose is a dispicable little fucker who was doing his level best to get a fellow professional sent off with with his play acting and theatrics, not one of the incidents involving him was a genuine foul or misdemeanour - he's an utter disgrace, but i'm sure you already know that.

And the two offsides you had and were given against us last season ?
