Poor performance today ???????????????????????????????

i think some people are just glory hunters from over the road (you my son) are taking the piss

Disappointed with the result obviously, but not disappointed with the performance.
Though we played some fantastic football and definitely deserved to win but unfortunately we didn't score either of the penalties.
How the fuck that awful tackle on Sterling wasn't deemed to be a foul when it was probably a red card with most other refs.
Sane looked dangerous in the 1st half and it should have been a penalty when he was brought down in the area.
Sterling looks a different player from last season and is full of confidence.
No need to panic in my opinion.
If we keep playing the way we are then we will definitely win more often than not.
I think Sterling just beat him for speed.

Sure the club are well aware of the full back issues and that is where we will improve next. Was always going to be hard to get Sagna off the books with his wage and same for kolarov and clichy.

True but its been a problem for some time.

If one thing stops us in our tracks this year it will be this.

We played a good game up to the penalty area. Everton conceded possession. They didn't even bother fighting for it in the middle of the park so of course we dominated. But other than the pens, I don't recall many clear cut chances.

It was always going to be a very tight game. Had we got the opener, we'd have probably have gone on to win comfortably.

Loving this season so far. Every blue should be really (except those who are being fucked about unnecessarily at the ground for one reason or another) yet for some reason this place is as bad as it was at Pellers worse point.
It's fucking weird how so many can be so negative at this stage. Well, I say weird but reading a lot of posts it's not so much weird, just people who have such high, unreachable expectations that they're never going to be happy.
It has made for some proper grim reading the last few weeks. Half the drivel being posted on here is by folk who don't deserve this club.
Today has happened to every top club in the world on many occasions. Dominate, play some great stuff and fully deserve 3 points. But football doesn't always work like that. Sometimes the ball wont go in, the final pass is just off and the opposition score with their only chance of the match. Missing 2 pens will obviously be the talking point yet even without them we had chances to win. I'm not sure what some are after but it makes for some pretty fucking awful reading.

It's a shame really because there's some great posters on here - sadly they're outnumbered by complete fuckwits on days like today.

We were by far the better team, but failed to take our chances in the first half. After that, the game had 'sucker punch' written all over it, and 0-1 could very easily have been the final result.
We looked like the City of old under Mancini and Pelligrini when teams got 10 behind the ball and we couldn't break them down.

We have a habit of trying to play through a 10 man defence, particularly trying 1-2's on the edge of the box and coming unstuck time and time again.

I can't say it was a poor performance, as I thought we played pretty well all in all, but we have to be more clinical in taking our chances. I thought Everton played negatively (from our perspective) but also played very well in terms of executing their game plan. They looked to be playing for a draw with the faint hope of maybe snatching a goal, and they almost got away with a win.

Without KdB, there's no real drive. A lot of flair, a lot of passing and possession, but nobody actually driving the team to stick the ball in the net.

Also noticed that Everton are a very physical team. Not a negative comment, just more noticeable in the flesh. Some very heavy set guys in their squad.

Like I say mate. I thought we were pretty fucking mesmeric at times, our pressing and movement was an absolute joy, and if this is just the start then it's going to be one fucking exciting journey.

I take it you don't visit the match day forums very often on here?

Fwiw, I completely agree.

When a team sets up as negatively as that it really isn't easy to break them down.

My worry that KDB could not play well with Silva has well and truly vanished. KDB made some lung bursting runs and took a lot on his shoulders to win that game but it wasn't our day.

I didn't find them over physical in the way they play.

We better get used to this style because most teams will come with a hope they may get a draw and possibly sneak a win, which is always possible with our shaky defence. Our destruction of Bournemouth has shown every prem manager that going open against us is not going to end well.

This is why we have waited for years for Pep. He is the man to find a solution.

He also needs to solve the penalty conundrum because we miss far too many.

This was a different type of game to the home games we've seen to date. EFC didn't try and compete in midfield or up front. As soon as we had the ball, they just retreated so it wasn't that good play by City that led to us camping around their box. Their game plan was defend the box. I think if Aguero had been 100%, we'd have won comfortably. Despite dominating possession in 1st half, we had very few chances and had little goal threat.
