City v Everton post match

I have been a bit sceptical about some of our earlier performances and the reaction thinking that we have looked a bit shaky at the back, and better teams would damage us.
Today was the opposite, although we couldn't get the win I thought the performance was generally excellent, our possession outstanding and we didn't really give away chances. The goal they got was an error but they still had to be at their best to take it and didn't get another real chance all match.
We will win a lot of matches playing worse than we did today.

The reluctance of David Silva to actually take a shot at goal burns my brain out. You would think if a goalie is 6'7", a penalty taker having done his homework would keep his shot low. Otherwise, City were great, Everton got out of jail there.

yeah, seems happy to shoot for Spain;
I absolutely love seeing him in the side, but that's the one thing I'd like to see him add to his game for us.

If I don't get a ticket for west brom off blue moon I will buy one from them when they go on open sale,does that mean I deserve a slap when I'm sat in their end,I love my team and will go and watch them whatever.
Well said

They had an identical one, about 5 minutes before the goal, caused by Otamendi doing exactly what Stones did, diving in near half way, and not getting the ball, leaving us 2 on 2, Bravo tipped the shot over the bar.

We had few opportunities to actually defend today, but when did, we didn't do it very well, especially when compared to the stern, stout, last ditch, and sometimes dodgy/dirty defending that Everton did, and for all our possession, and all their defending, not to mention us getting a rare 2 penalties, it finished 1-1, plenty to find frustrating for me.

If this run of games which could well extend to next Sunday where we fail to maximum points is as bad as it gets for us this year then we cannot complain.

I suspect not and there will be more bumps ahead and we certainly have to start putting penalties away as our record this year has been pathetic to say the least but if we dominate possession as much as did yesterday and cut out the mistakes we will not drop too many points especially at home.

Spurs , Liverpool and maybe one or two others are better sides than we were under MP's first season in charge.

As for us we haven't altered the back four much since then and the players that start are all 3 years older and slower to boot.

To win the title we need far more clean sheets than we are getting at present and we have little hope of winning it if we cannot keep enough clean sheets.

Well I'm having a lovely family weekend near Bath so couldn't go to the game. My mate did with his young lad instead and having watched the highlights I'm glad the kid got to see us. From what I saw, apart from being overplayed* we were a joy to watch and unlucky not to win it.

* @blueinsa sorry - last time.

Definitely frustrating is the word.

Really disappointing we threw 2 points away and only scored one goal from 19 attempts and 8 on target.

The final ball needs more invention and you wonder if we have players who can shoot from distance often enough to test the opposition.

Mario who missed penalty on Friday you mean ??????
Funnily enough me and my lad were discussing Mario and penalties as we walked back into town tonight, I think he was one of the best I've seen, but because he was so unpredictable, I've no idea on his stats, but he did vary what he did, which makes the keepers job more difficult, as they generally know the player and pick one side, hoping they get lucky.

I think exactly the same, we are being treated to fantastic football, and we will always get games like this where nothing goes in.would like to see more shots on days like this when we realise we are not going to walk it in, but otherwise when de bruyne has a couple more matches under his belt after injury and sane and gundogan bed in we will be fabulous.

Being happy to shoot wins you nothing - bit like missing the treble 20 at darts. Davis Silva never has been, and never will be a prolific goalscorer. There are times we wish he would pull the trigger, of course, but if that was at the forefront of his mind, you simply wouldn't end up with the unselfish playmaker that David Silva is. He absolutely knows his role in the team, and that's why he gets the respect of so many professionals and fans alike. It's a bit like having a drummer in a band that unselfishly keeps things ticking over - yet expecting him to play the role of 'Animal' from the Muppets once or twice a session just to get noticed, grab attention or make headlines.

Maybe, and I agree that their defending was dirty in the last 15 mins, but I can absolutely guarantee that if we'd have bagged those 2 pens (which we won because of our tenacity) and won 3-1, neither you nor anyone else would have said cock-all about our defending to concede 1 goal. That's simply how transparent we are as footy fans. I'm not having a go at you personally, just highlighting the fact that when we don't get the win, we can easily presume there is something inherently wrong with the team.

I never realised Lukaku was that big built until Clichy was tasked to mark him. Bolasie was also a unit. We should have won the game and it was very frustrating to watch us pass one too many. Missing 2 penalties is just one of those games where a draw was inevitable.

We played one of the best football I've ever seen so far this season but everton unfortunately defended well adding to their keeper with 2 penalty saves and two saves on target. We got to the point where we just ran out of ideas and the ground went anxiously quiet during these spells.

Also, I had a nightmare getting to my seat with the lack of synchronicity on which gate to go in. I received an email and text message only to be told that I couldn't get in to the designated gate. Pointed it out to one Marshall who simply said the email and text were wrong. Rather than walking back to the other side of the stadium, I sneaked into another line regardless. 3 marshals kept on insisting that the those in my block are not supposed to get through even when the tannoy said different, but I went in and got to my seat in a jiffy. Others in my block weren't so lucky when they were ushered from one gate to the other and back to the first gate. Sort it out management.

I personally don't think we have the forwards to win the league this season. Aguero is good, but when he's not firing there's no other striker you can consistently rely on to get goals for you. Iheanacho is a talent but he's got a long way to go. If we had a Dzeko/Negredo we would've easily won that game.

Don't forget, you're getting Jesus for Christmas!!!
