Again it depends on how good you are with computers, it is a series of instructions to follow so if you don't mind that then great.

If I need a VPN for watching the footy then I'll obviously get one. I see Nord VPN is recommended often?It all depends on what you are using, if you are just using regular streams from exodus you will be fine for now; if you are trying tight use torrents and acestream you probably should get a VPN

Acestream is probably the best way of streaming football due to the quality and while it may occasionally buffer; the stream rarely gets taken down.
The reason for this is because it is p2p you are uploading parts of the stream to other people while downloading the stream from others; it's decentralised and therefore less likely to be taken down.
However acestream is much like torrents , as you are uploading parts of the stream you are breaking copyright; @talkativesprout says that you would likely be okay and he is much, much more knowledgeable than myself so a VPN might not be necessary. I use one as I like to keep myself secure on public networks and just use it on acestreams as well
