I was just thinking that, from the clubs point of view it makes no difference to the costs(in fact they'd have to pay to have safe standing set up and it will be the same amount of fans) so it probably wont affect the price at all. The question is will standing give a better atmosphere? How much difference does it really make, if they're not saving any money it wont attract the typical working class types of old and if anyone is paying the normal amount why not have a seat?

It might help though I don't know, maybe safe standing... and beer dispensers on every isle?(probably two choices max) that's the excuse to leave your seat for ages and not focus on cheering the team on out of the way. The socialising part which some like to point out can be done before and after the game imo, make a day of it discuss a win or a loss etc.

I hate the articles which concern the Hillsborough victim groups in them when discussing safe standing.
We've never had safe standing here and this has fuck all to do with what happened at Hillsborough so why consult them?

Yes was always went in Kippax so seating was forced on me and as I stand/sit in 109 it won't make much difference might be a bit cheaper.

I posted similar once and someone explained in great detail it's actually around 1.8 more fans. Sorry can't remember who and what thread.

It was me.
When you sit, you take up room on two steps, the one your feet is on and the one your arse sits over. So standing you only use one step.
Apparently we take up more room when standing so for every 10 seats, you get 9 fans standing - which becomes 18 fans when using the 2 steps.
So for every 1000 seated fans you get 1800 standing.
3000 = 5400
5000 = 9000

So clearly prices can come down and clubs (if sold out) will make more.

This has really worked at Celtic. The atmosphere this section helps generate makes the game and whole experience better.

I'm of a generation where to move fifty yards in a swaying mass of madness, was the norm when you scored an important goal. The bouncing up and down constantly would see me today carted out on a stretcher and straight into an oxygen tent.

Similar to an older city fan mentioned, I'm out of the picture for this lark also, but agree with him that the younger fans missed out on this.

Safe standing is fine. The clue is in the name, where barriers prevent any swaying of the type of our day, but still allows a degree of going mental that you loved when the risk of massive cardiac arrest was less assured.

Hillsborough wasn't caused by safe standing. The system is far safer than anything I encountered anywhere back in the day.

I think you all should welcome it. If like me you are a wee bit old to bounce for 90 minutes, then to watch it is a close second.

I am hoping that Celtic extend it by another couple of thousand. I know the majority of your lads and lassies who came up enjoyed the spectacle of it.

It isn't always as mental as that night though. That was a mark of respect to your team, as we think you're a class act, so getting anything had the effect of everybody going ballistic.

Safe standing. It's the future if we want to generate an atmosphere and allow the younger fans a chance to congregate and give it laldy*

* laldy. Scottish expression to describe extremely enthusiastic behaviour/singing. A few beers before the game increases laldyness exponentially.

Yes but would maybe think to do it in east stand lower as there are more people standing now than the south stand around the ground, so everyone would have to move there,(think it was said that if introduced all other areas would be strict seating only on news).

Doesn't Dortmund's stadium have a capacity of about 65,000 all seater, 80,000 with standing? Big difference.

I think actually some models are your season ticket is for the stand not the seat and you stand where you want, for cup games in the same area you are allocated a seat.

so if you had a 9000 standing area with 6000 ST holders that when converted to seating held 5000 and only 4000 season ticket holders in the safe standing area were on the cup scheme they would get priority seating lets say and the rest would have to buy where ever

For me, I think safe standing should be considered, but I like many others I suspect, are no longer able to stand for such long periods, so if they do it, confine it to specific areas
 
yes safe standing at the cheapest price so all the people who want to create an atmosphere can stand together instead of being spread round the ground due to affordability
 
No. I see no point in standing. If everyone stayed sat down when the ball goes in the box they can see just as well if not better.

Who on earth wants to stand on their feet for nigh on 2 hours.
