Your Ideal Garage

Lazy twat. At least pick a car worth putting in a garage and not one that will half in value as soon as you shut the door.

There's no pleasure in driving these days, especially on our overcrowded roads. If I could afford an s class merc and a chauffeur, the depreciation is hardly likely to be an issue. I want to get from A to B with the least amount of fuss in the most amount of comfort. A RR would be too ostentatious, so a merc it is.

I am a builder and I always think about door placement, hate dripping eaves over a door. I know you don't have to worry about snow loads so much over there but here it's critical
Fair enough, although I would have thought that the guttering would obviate that. I know I am going to think more about this, sad old see you next Tuesday that I am.
On a tangential note, do you have to put in steel upright windposts in the wall cavity to either side of the door / window openings?

I know. Big Rain slides there.
Exactly!
Built a house for this guy one time and it had triple garage doors, watched him walk out one morning and his feet slipped over his head as all the ice had built up under the eave, he went down so hard

There's still some pleasure to be got from driving mate. You just have to stay off the main roads. Came back from Minehead last night and ignored the motorways but instead cut across country. Found some great B roads and had fun. Until the missus complained.

No, framing is wood framing is sufficient

I did it for a living for too long, it sucked all the fun out of it.

That's what I thought you would say. Try telling that to Edinburgh building control! I've got more steel in my extension than I thought was necessary. Having said that I do like a bit of over engineering.
too funny, fucking bureaucrats
