Burnley - Post Match Thread

The risk, is knackering them out physically & mentally by January & then having to patch them up for 4 months. That's the 'risk' Pellegrini has been taking with all our players & it's largely failed.
If that's the case why does Fernadhino play every game ? Surely we're risking "knackering them out physically & mentally by January" as well ?

Some of the rotation is odd, Stones particularly, 2 internationals in England, and 1 CL game v 2 internationals in South America, 2 League games, and a CL game in the same period, and not even on the bench ? Yes I know we're short at CB, but we have no real cover for Fernadhino either.

This.

Bunch of fucking rag/scouse licking arsewipes. Even interfering with the fixtures in their favour.

I can't believe the number of fucking morons in this thread moaning about the selection under the circumstances. It's as if the last two years never happened & they learned nothing.

At last we have a manager who is at least trying to see the whole picture & 'manage'.

Today was the sort of battling game which wins titles, irrespective of the names who played.

We failed to beat them at all last time they were in our league.
100 % correct

For the first time today, im also scratching my head a little at the selection and rotation and the second half that was crying out for Merlin imo but never saw him.

When he arrived we all knew he was unconventional and would make us think wtf at times so it shouldnt come as a huge surprise.

he gambled today but he won that gamble and thats all that matters as he knows what he is doing.

I thought Stones was omitted because Guardiola wanted a more physically robust defence; the same reason he probably had Fernando/Fernandinho/Toure in midfield. It gave us height and allowed us to compete in what was a predictably scrappy game.

Solid win against a team that has shocked both the dippers and the rags this year.

67 percent possession and 20 shots vs 6 isn't "ugly", it's domination against a team happy to park the bus and hoof.

Bravo had a great game and hopefully the panty-wetters will finally support the man.

Good to see Aguero net a few, let's hope it starts a scoring run.

Top of the league, third best defensive record, doing really well in the CL. Great stuff!

Fernandinho is our most important player. He is genuinely irreplaceable and we have nobody like him in the squad. That's why he doesn't get rested. Thought we were awful today against let's be honest a really poor Burnley team. Otamendi defended well apart from his usual 2-3 dangerous fouls trying to win balls that just weren't winnable. Fernando played well in providing a defensive shield to the defence and Aguero looked lively up front. The results are going ok but we will need to play much better in the games coming up.

Pep has obviously been concerned about Stones for a while.

Fernandinho is irreplacable. Best in the world by a street. But Pep will have to rest him soon or he will lose him or he'll go to shit.

But Pep knows he's superhuman, as he showed for our 2nd goal.

Last season though, it would have been him & Yaya vs Burnley on their 3rd away game. With a half arsed Silva & KDB in front.

This is a different world.

I'm so glad we stole 3 points there. Our defence is woeful. I've never seen defenders panic so much, how otamendi didn't get a pen against him I'll never know. Clichy & Sagna looked like rabbits in the headlights everytime the ball came to them and hoofed it.
We are so poor at direct play, all teams will be happy to let is piss about with it 40 yards from goal.
The penetration is missing yet again and always wanting to 'tap' the ball in.
IMO Sterling was awful.
However.... Winning at Burnley is no easy task. Let's take that and move on.
We did not steal the points we deserved the win

Had more possession and shots on goal

They are all tested and asked about their fitness.

Dinho just has a huge engine in him.

Absolutely this. Some of the comments pre game were a fucking disgrace from people that should really know an awful lot better.

Well its wrong then, because sooner or later we'll miss him through fatigue.

Pep has obviously been concerned about Stones for a while.
In what way ? He picks him for big games, then not even on the bench, I understand the need for rotation, but this rotation seems to have favourites. I also understand the need for a more robust side at Burnley, Yaya isn't robust, he added very little today either in strength, or effort.

Just a quick shout out to BT for their shocking coverage today once again. Could barely see the pitch at the start of the game and then they treat us with bile from Darke and Francis. Then to top it all off we get Robbie bastarding Savage of all people having a go at sagna for going down to easily. You couldn't make this shit up.

Concerned about keeping him sharp for the big games. He has seen things in his game which are not quite on it & is trying to 'manage' him, which is a new thing for us.

Yaya was our best attacking player today imo & not there for strengh at all
