Celtic game - strict security measures announced (page 34)

Also, a fair number of the people in 93:20 and Joe's on League games don't support City. They buy tickets to entertain clients etc. This is why there are cheaper seats in South Stands L3.

Some of the people who buy these seats might find it easier to sell the tickets on to away fans at a profit because they are not Blues.

That’s not just City though mate.

The midweek after we play Arsenal, I’ve got a couple a couple of tickets for Cologne v Leverkusen.

Cologne offer a corporate package, mainly for tourists, which basically involves paying a bit more, and having a free bar for the whole game. We did a similar thing at Hamburg last season, with caterers bringing beer to our seats.

Consequently, I’ve got a purchase history at loads of Bundesliga grounds where City might play in the near future.

I hope you're not trying to occupy the moral high ground here with your Celtic hat on.

Almost certainly 'the hostility from a home section towards an away support' was influenced by the anti English, pro IRA, chanting in town all afternoon.

Like I say, I had been in town all day and never heard anything untoward.
A fair few Irish songs, yes. Not to be mistaken as 'pro IRA'.
I can only comment on what I seen however.

On a separate note, I know many 'Cityzen' members with purchase history who could buy up to 4 additional tickets for this match.
How can City monitor who these are being distributed to?
Sure there's a delivery address but beyond that there's no means of tracking which individual has each ticket.
I understand this is to ultimately put bums on seats but for a game in such high demand from an away support, a little bit of sense wouldn't have gone a miss.

Left work at 6:30 and walked up Portland Street to Piccadilly.
I was in amongst a group of about 20 Celtic fans and enjoying their singing, until I heard the words of the songs.
To go to an English City and think it's OK to glorify the IRA is stupid and offensive.

It's easy for the club to deal with this.
Remind all ticket purchasers of the rules, that I'm sure already exist - away fans are not allowed in the home fans section of the ground.
Remind them that if they openly wear their team's colours in the home end or sing in support of the away team that they will be ejected.
Clear rules which need to be enforced (by the Police I would imagine).

(See my post about the email I got from Burnley football club when I bought tickets in the home end, earlier in the thread).

Once again, someone is talking shite. It's not about them just 'celebrating' it's singing IRA songs, goading the fans because they want city fans to get angry.

Well none were singing that shite next to me, and as i've said in a previous post we've our fair share of knobheads who sing plenty of shite or turn up in Rangers flags just to get a reaction.

In case you haven't noticed all clubs have them, being a blue doesn't make them immune from knobheadishness..

And if you get angry every time someone goads you i'd do something about it, some **** singing shit like that wouldn't worry me in the slightest, just shows them for what they are.

We were in 137 couple sat behind us normal everyday people just come to watch a game of football

yes we were all over Ewood park................not once did I hear us singing IRA songs or saw us throwing coins, lighters and slagging off the locals in their faces.

Wrong to compare the two
mate from 10 minutes before the kick off city fans were giving the celtic fans in our end grief not even had chance to sit down and they were copping for it

Visited the Etihad with my son on Tuesday night and easily purchased tickets for home end, we're both Celtic Supporters and had nothing but great fun with the City Supporters around us, we celebrated when Celtic scored and booed when things didn't go our way, but all around us the City fans made us extremely welcome.we were in section 240 family section.
We sung a few songs , and generally had a cracking time, when the game finished we had loads of well wishes from City Supporters, hand shakes few cuddles of the ladies and we wished the team well in the next round of the cup.
All in all a great day and night was had and can honestly say we never saw any trouble the whole day, would love for City to let Patrick Roberts to stay another season but that's looking highly unlikely as he's playing extremely well, a great homebred player, not too many of those coming through the ranks these days..
If anyone who was in 240 on Tuesday night and remembers us, just like to say thanks for making it a great night with loads of laughs.

The game was not sold out. Therefore quite fair that any celtic fan should be able to buy a ticket. Watch the game support their team and enjoy the night.
I have been in plenty of away fan ends around the country and enjoyed the experience.

Cannot understand the arsiness of any fans stressed about them being in our end.

Kippax was different of vpirde

Maybe, just maybe if they hadn't let any Celtic fans into the home ends who were wearing colours it might have been a start. No problems with away fans in home end but unwritten rule is stay quiet, don't wear colours and don't jump up and down singing sectarian songs. If fans came to the turnstiles wearing colours, confiscate their tickets and send them away.

I've emailed the club and let them know that I'll be cancelling the champions league cup scheme on my card next year.

I can't be arsed paying money to be surrounded by away fans every time. Especially as I'm sat next to the UEFA guest section. The nobs in there are the only ones in the stadium that are allowed to drink too.

Someone from the club tried to get in touch but I missed it. So got an email asking me to call them if I still want to discuss. I won't bother and just save my money.

There were more than a few of our fans in Glasgow goading the Celtic fans with "No surrender" songs.

I was in Germany for the World Cup. There were a group of around 30 England fans outside a bar singing this and trying their best to start a scrap with some Germans who were out watching their side on night one.

Of course it was completely lost on them that the bar they were drinking in was an Irish Bar!

From memory we had, "Sean South of Garryowen, Boys of the Old brigade, Go on home, British Soldiers, Fields of Athenry, Brits out, The Irish National Anthem; whilst all toe tappers from the Rebels songbook not really football related

Don't know how you could tell the difference they all sounded the same from 305

Imagine them or anyone else coming in the kippax or north stand back in the day it just wouldn't happen they would of got absolutely mullered fuck this I don't mind them in our end etc they shouldn't be there end of let them fuck off back up to Scotland and take there shit IRA songs with them.
Couldnt agree more!
