Pablo Zabaleta - 2016/17 performances

PEP: Zabaleta can play in the middle. He’s very experienced. I think in the last years of his career he’ll play more in the middle

Aka - he can't play RB anymore, his legs have gone!

Would be great to get another good 6 months out of him as a defensive midfielder though.

I thought for more than a few moments that we had glimpses of the old Zab - giving away free kicks in dodgy spots! But it everyone had the work ethic, commitment and love of the Club that Zab has, no one could ask for more, whatever the Whistling Wankers come up with!

It would be great if we could be 2-0 or 3-0 up in these games by 70 minutes and throw on someone like Maffeo to replace Zabaleta, both give the old Pablo a rest while introducing the kid gently.


Given the previous month's form I'm not complaining with a win, I just hope we see more of that when things are less tumultuous.

Played & led well last night apart from 10 minutes in the second half when his head went a bit.

Naval gave him good cover when he came on.

Zabba looked like he enjoyed every minute of it.

The worst part of everyone walking out after our 2-2 draw with Arsenal last season was the thought of it being Zabaleta's last appearance at the Etihad. Regardless of the thoughts on Pellegrini and frustrations of that season, Zaba deserved more.

When it looked like he was set to join Roma I was genuinely saddened that he didn't get the send off he deserved.

Needless to say, I was absolutely buzzing when he ended up staying and that goal really got my heart pumping last night. Absolutely ecstatic for him and it looked like it meant a hell of a lot more to him as well.

His legs have gone, he's certainly past his best and that wasn't exactly amongst his greatest performances but he will help us this season against certain teams.
