City v Watford post match

The players did well to stick at it without losing their cool. They weren't brilliant but how could any team be brilliant when so many fouls go unpunished. City ought to be making a very strong complaint about the ref.
There was one passage of play of play where they fouled Toure in the box for an indirect free kick, not given, two players combined again in the same way to foul Nolito on the left, not given, in between, two players fouled De Bruyne at the same time, one was a yellow, not given. All in about a minute. I've never seen a team push, hold, obstruct, barge and generally hinder so much. Like some have said, almost rugby. Right at the end, Sterling was shoved in the back to get him off the ball. He was pushed off the pitch. Right in front of the ref. No fk. Nothing. It was so wrong, I laughed. I can't see how Watford could play like that every game so why last night? I suspect teams know they'll get away with it against City and fill their boots.

In fact the fouls on Toure and Nolito should be direct fks and so a penalty for the one on Toure.

Sterling was good and bad, at times he made the most stupid decisions, and got himself into trouble and gave the ball away, at other times, he ran directly at them, and he scared the shit out of them, I wish he'd stick to the latter, because he looks very good when he does that.

Beware outbreaks of balanced and reasonable commentary. It will end in a lynching

There's a simple mantra that I'm sure every Whistling Wanker who turns up at The Etihad keeps repeating all the way through the JokePlayHandshake - Your tackles are fouls; their fouls are tackles. Nigh on every 50-50 on Wednesday ended up as a free kick to Watford. It has become countless the number of times this season our players have clearly been fouled and not even a kick as reward. It doesn't matter if we end up going to ground we still don't get anything. Other teams seem to get the ref's favour by simply sitting down. By latest optical prescription is clear plastic - only tints when the sun shines!

Could have been 1-1? Fuck off. It could have finished 0-2. It could have finished 8-6 but it didn't. We absolutely dominated Watford and managed to kill them off; something we've been really struggling with recently.

We'll have tougher tests and we'll have to put in better performances but the three points were fully deserved and thankfully we don't play Atletico Madrid every week.

But, because we weren't 2011 Barcelona and didn't score six goals, it was a Pellegrini performance?

People were moaning from minute one and looking for an excuse to have a hissy fit. One guy was screaming to take Clichy off after fifteen minutes and another knobhead seemed determined to tell everyone that all Watford had to do was get their free kick on target because Bravo is shite. Detestable fucking vultures who love it when things fuck up because the most excitement they get from watching football is the moment when they get to say "I told you so".

Absolute fucking embarrassment to be sat in the stands with wankers like that but stupidity rarely whispers.

Brilliantly put. I just wish these moaning b^stards would f*ck off and leave those of us who want to support the team to do just that.

Considering the recent results and the pressure being put on the players I thought it was a good performance with the only dampener being the injury to Gundogan which is the last thing we needed.

I'm only taking positivity from the fact we performed so well early season without him.

Cant remember if I posted in this thread already but been thinking about the Watyford game and I dont see how we played better, in fact we could easily of been 1-1 if they had scored what turned out to be a bad miss tbh. I dont see an improvement yet.

Arsenal is such a key game

Not so much the fact it happens but the fact it invites teams to keep pushing it further to see how far they can go.
Not a good scenario and City need to speak out.

it hasnt always been perfect so far but ive seen enough in the wins v bournemouth, united and barcelona to see an improvement since pep has come and i can see the potential for the furture. Hopefully we will improve the squad over the next few windows and then we will hopefully see pep prove to the world that he can take a shit side and coach them to win in spite of what the rest of the world think! fingers crossed anyway :-)

I didn't see the Watford match - it's the second one I've missed this season, after Spurs away - but I get the impression from posts above that Watford were the beneficiaries of the kind of bent refereeing we've suffered from all season. It's even more openly contemptuous of City than it was last season, the most flagrant example of the "you're going to have to be ten points better than everyone else to win anything" being Taylor's display in the Chelsea game. Last season the ploy for other teams was to hack Sergio and/or David Silva down from behind the first time they touched the ball and receive a good natured "word" (well done?) from the ref. Then Fernandinho and one of our CBs would see yellow for a decent tackle and have to play the last 85 minutes knowing a slightly mistimed tackle would have us down to ten. Now they simply ignore body checks, lunges and even slaps.

Not at all, anyone claiming a conspiracy after the last match is completely paranoid. You could make a case for a few more yellows but the ref in this one at least called fouls, many in fact. It was probably one of the most balanced efforts we've had in a while in terms of getting calls right. There have been times this season where we've been absolutely robbed by the refs but this is one of those times where people are crying wolf. Watford fans probably felt hard done by at times as we had several 50/50s where two players went for a challenge and our player went to ground and the call went out way. For most of the season we'd get whistled and I'd get furious.

100% correct sir, as usual.

It was more about getting 3 points then the way we played. However 1 complaint is the again we failed to make our pressure count where it matters most. by putting the ball in the back of the net. Unless Pep can solve this problem and our defensive frailties, we will continue to struggle to win games, and thus struggle to stay in the top 3.

The reason we fail to put the ball in the net is because we don't bother putting the ball in the net [emoji3]
