Will We Do Business in the Winter Window?

if we don't improve at the back in the winter window i don't think we finish top 4

I'd be surprised if we don't bring in any defenders.

Surely there must be a fairly cheap, short term option at full back, at least.

For centre back, I think Southampton would absolutely sell Van Dijk for the right price. It's how their business model works, they have replacements scouted for their best players up to two years in advance as they know they'll leave. There wasn't even a struggle to keep Mane or Wanyama in the summer.

Lescott is a free agent having been released from some Greek club?

On a serious note I don't see how we could drop anyone from either list. Vinny and Delph are the candidates and it would be very harsh on either. I think I'm right in saying all of our 17 foreign players have played. So other than the space for G Jesus I just don't see any foreign players coming in!

I know, I know. January's always crap and we're getting Jesus for Christmas, though has to be somewhere for unfounded gossip, news of folk outside hospitals and tracking private jets from China...

Life's just not the same without an "it's quiet" thread - miserable feckers...

OP - for the sanity of us all, please rename this thread!

I didn't think we would do any business in January, but Guardiola's quotes today mean that it's a definite possibility.

Pep: "I am confident in the players that we have. I'm happy. But, I am not denying that maybe we will look for something [in January]."

We need to sell to free up squad places so it may very well be contingent on who is wanted elsewhere and/or who is amenable to leaving.

True, although the injuries to Gundogan and Kompany could give a bit of a leeway. I'm sure Gundogan's place will be taken by Toure, but Kompany's place could be up for grabs if the club aren't confident of his ability to remain injury free.

Think we'll definitely sign a centerback and also a central midfielder on a short term deal. Would like to see Xabi Alonso however he's still a regular starter for Bayern but someone in that mould. Maybe Julian Weigl is a possibility
