Pep's contract situation | 2 year extension confirmed! (pg1817)

Thoughts if he doesn't finish top 4? I respect the man but if we end up finishing something ridiculous like 6th I'm not sure he deserves an extension? I expect to be castrated for saying that but hey ho

Why wait till the summer. Why not agree it and sign it now to stop the shit stirrers and shut up the anti city journo's?

Can i be the first to say 'fuck off with this shit'.

He's been here 6 months or so and has still got some players that let Mancini & Pellegrini down, he couldn't clear the whole squad out so has had to do it a bit at a time.

Major changes this summer, if not earlier and then we can start to judge him.

After seeing us v Barcelona, arsenal, rags and 60 minutes v Chelsea says we'll be better than fine once he's got in the players he wants.

He's underperforming. No question about that. Results and performances do not lie. We've gone backwards.

His immediate job (in August) was to look at what he had and make that work. He has failed to do that (compare him with Conte).

It's too early to give up on him (obviously). I hope he gets it right. If he doesn't, lets cut our losses and get Simeone.

No room for sentiment here. Fail. Go. Move on.

You're posting in the wrong thread. The club is backing him to the hilt, he will extend, stay and doubtless be very successful. Sorry.

Good, we need a proper rebuild and he's the man to do it. We need a manager who knows they have the leeway to fuck off a lot of the old guard and take the hit of playing new, younger players.

With the possibility of being out the champions league next season will the top players want to come?

Lets hope Pep can use his charm.

Let's also hope we get new scouts too.

Being in Chumps league for 6 years hasn't been the ticket to getting hungry , young quality that we need.

We will probably get better players for the longer term and have more sustained success especially domestically if we are out of Chumps League which is has only delivered dross in the main to date.

The new scouts bit is more to the point as good ones don't worry about dangling Chumps League football as a carrot as most of the players we have targeted so far are already playing Chumps League.

must say though its a waste of time giving him time and money if he hasn't got the balls to drop players that are so obviously out of form. you don't get the time in the prem to "come good". every player needs to be at the very top of their game from the off.

Don't worry Bill I didn't choose to ignore this like everyone else. Completely agree with you here. Having the Balls to make those cut throat decisions are what define you and he doesn't make them

Good let's hope also Joe is brought back and Bravo is sold too.

City are never ever going to sack Pep Guardiola after 6 fucking months anyway......................He's here for a long time so get used to it.

Hart went for reasons we will probably never ever know but some of the players were his to inherit. Most of them will be gone soon enough.

Underperforming players either improve or leave. It's how it's always been.

Instant guaranteed success is not possible with any manager or set of players.

Unlike like some I am prepared to give him the benefit of doubt and time to turn this around. At the start of the season we were on fire and now we look fucked like a the end of last season. Clearly he needs some major surgery in terms of new players 4-5 by my reconing.

Long term fan here, absolutely thrilled.

It's being leaked by an ITK, not announced by the club, but sure, whatever suits your agenda.

Conveniently ignoring his past accomplishments which may provide both precedent for his abilities and incentive for the club to want him? OK.

What have you missed?

1. He's been here half a season.
2. The squad is largely the same as Pellegrini's, which was largely the same as Mancini's. Only a year older and a year less likely to adapt to a new style of play.
3. Pep was never a short term plan and the club has bought into him 100%.
4. Everything @Shaelumstash said.

Oh do bore off, it's pathetic that people are saying this shit after only half a season.

Thankfully the club and it's wonderful owners aren't so foolish as to throw away the chance to seal up the best coach in football for the long haul as you would be.

Thanks. Constructive.

A couple of points though.

It is not conveniently ignoring his past achievements. Its about here and now. I used to have hair and a 26 inch waist but that doesn't apply here and now. Its not relevant.

I don't have any agenda whatsoever just concern for our club.

The ten game run has long gone. Over 3 months ago. 9 wins in the 21 games since is not good enough even if it includes Barca, Arsenal.

The fact that it is a long term plan doesn't make it right. We are going backwards at an alarming rate and apart from the odd flash of brilliance, there is little to take much optimism from here and now.

The bore off comment is dismissive if you want constructive debate and probably best describes how I felt at Goodison yesterday when the only positive mention Guardiola got was the half hearted attempt at his song at kick off time. It used to blast round every ground and I was one of those singing it.

Is he going to be given a centre back, a couple of full backs and a defensive midfielder worthy of the name as well? Would be nice
