He already is close to world class. And this season hes been our best player and of the best wingers in the league. Still only 22 yo but despite that you dont thinks hes good enough?

You've got to be kidding. He's much improved on last season, but his touch and judgement are still way too inconsistent for him to be considered even close to world class. The number of times he's put clean through and makes a pig's ear of it is way higher than it should be. Like I say he's been way better than last season and he's unquestionably a decent asset for us, but he's been far from our best. I''d say Silva, Ya Ya and KDB are way ahead of him on that score

Sterling has been are best player so far this season. One poor game and peoplle are calling him shite. Unbelievable. Hang your heads in fuckin shame

What evidence are people basing this on? Seriously.

He had a great 1st month, along with the whole team. Since then he has been more miss than hit. Someone said to me today that I was being harsh and look at his performance against Arsenal. I pointed out that was over a month ago.

He cost £44m and while that isn't his fault he has to start producing on a regular basis like he did at the start of the season. One good game every five games just doesn't cut the mustard at this level.

Sterling was decent. No less no more. Could have had a hat trick and could've created another two assist. He often makes a lot of mistakes for not reading the games properly and making wrong choices. But he will improve and is already much better than last year.

He reads the game brilliantly, that's why he keeps popping up with the ball in places where people think he might score.

You don't find yourself in those positions if you don't read the game well.

He's also always been very good at reading it defensively too, seeing danger and getting back to help out, sometimes before the back 4 has cottoned on.

I can understand criticism of his finishing but not this, it's just lazy criticism and completely rubbish.

You've been on the glue my friend. Three times he was put through and the only time he got a shot off was when Walker pushed him into the ball.

First time he got put through dead centre, his 1st touch took him 6 yards wide of goal.

When he got tackled by Rose that was because his 1st touch again took him away from goal, a decent 1st touch and Rose gets nowhere near him.

People keep saying he is young and will become world-class, not a hope in hell. Experience won't give him the attributes he is missing. Is he going to wake up mid-twenties and all of a sudden he's developed a first touch and a footballing brain?

Look at Sane and the 10 min cameo from Jesus, both younger but look at their 1st touch. You don't learn that in your 20s. Sterling is no better (arguably worse) than what he was in 2013/14. He is a hit or miss player with little to no consistency to his game. City fans don't wanna believe it but he's nowhere near the level of his price-tag.

Thank fook for this, I'm not alone. You are band on the money and he is usually their best defender, I doubt he will be more than a bench warmer with a fit squad. The last person you want put through on goal.

Don't know how to do this but I can show you several moments to prove my point. Not lazy. Just watching. And it's not something I blame him for as its typical at his age. Maybe rematch the match? Or are you to lazy?

I'm not too lazy, apparently i just see the game better than you.

The ball isn't falling to him by luck, he's reading the game to get opportunities, a child could work that out.

Disagree. It pains me to say it but the best and most consistent football i have seen from Sterling came when he wore a red shirt that season.

His first few months this season were miles better than anything he produced that season. Consistency has been a struggle, but then again, what young wide player is actually consistent?

I think Sterling like Stones was a bad signing because of what you got for the money spent ...however unlike Stones I think Sterling has the potential to improve.

I've said before he is a "nearly" man - just a little more and he'd be very good. As long as we don't rely on him as a scorer while he tries to improve....The silly thing to do imo would be to have blind faith as it seems we've had to date in too many players.

Maybe with Sané and Gabriel taking some pressure off it'll start to work out for him.

Definitely better than Navas at the very least.
