Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

Go on Raheem.

Just a thought which is never going to happen wouldn't it be good if the fa who support refs and fine anyone who calls them would come out and release a statement against the media witch hunt on this, after all the product of England (Sterling shirt sales) will be losing them money.

Sagna and Sane liked his final post. I think we have a bit of an us vs them mentality brewing within this squad. That can only be a good thing.

I agree the players look like they are in this together now, the fans should realise this now and be as one .

I'd be very surprised if that was the case,but,even in the face of strong provocation and an absolute entitlement to respond accordingly......he is doing a fantastic job of not showing it.

He,and his advisors,are handling the media trolls perfectly and making them look like the sad wankers they are.

Sad thing is he's a proper sound and grounded guy who grew up in Wembley. Poor kid turns rich, they fucking hate it.

Why are you so determined for his ethnicity to not be an issue?

This country isn't as progressive as some like to pretend and ****s like the Millwall fan who's been caught on camera are absolutely everywhere and not just the rarity that we excuse through exceptionalism. We have our own fans with similar views as I know from experience and as the recent controversy regarding the disgusting chanting at Spurs fans has shown. Look at the comments on Sterling's social media accounts from last summer. Look at who the England captain was five years ago and what happened there. Go back further to 2003 and you'll see Manchester's own police force shown up to be a disgusting little bunch of twats who bully ethnic minorities and are far less forgiving to those with a different skin colour.

To say Sterling's treatment is "a race issue" is wide of the mark as there are many factors in the equation. But do I believe that a significant proportion of the people who are regular customers of these papers hold abhorrent views with regards to other races and cultures? Absolutely. Do I believe that these journalists will be fully aware of their readership? Absolutely. Do I believe that these people would be much happier customers if the 'news' presented just affirmed their pre existing viewpoints rather than challenging and engaging them? Absolutely.

If you don't agree then fine but personally I think it comes across as absurd denial to disregard the colour of a black man's skin as a contributing factor to his negative treatment in this country.
 
Not sure why Sterling decided to delete his posts from last night, but fair play to him for responding in the way he did. It would've been understandable if he'd been more arsey in his replies, but he seems like a genuinely nice lad, which makes this persecution all the more unpleasant. I wonder if the club could do more to protect him, say by banning Daily Star journalists from press conferences etc. until the harassment stops.

And you know for definite because ... ? Too many people throw the racist card about but there is nothing to suggest that in this case its a contributory factor as to his persecution at this moment in time.I`m NOT interested as to whats happened in the past with something that happened 13 years ago and to bring it up is absolutely fooking stupid and bears no relation to this topic of Sterling being persecuted because of his skin colour.
